Why Auburn isn't interested in Mike Leach

07:50 AM ET 12.05 | Texas Tech coach Mike Leach reportedly interviewed earlier this week for the soon-to-be-vacant Washington coaching job. But Leach withdrew his name from consideration Thursday, according to a Tech source with knowledge of the contract talks. Leach also was linked to the Auburn job Wednesday after Tommy Tuberville resigned. Various newspaper reports, quoting anonymous sources, said an unofficial Auburn representative gauged Leach's interest. But the Tech source said Auburn officials told Tech that "they're not interested in Leach" and that he "doesn't fit well in the SEC." That leaves Leach and his representatives -- Gary O'Hagan and Matt Baldwin of International Marketing Group in Minneapolis -- waiting for a formal contract offer from Myers. Baldwin declined to comment Thursday.
