Kitna: Lions will win 10-plus games

In March, Jon Kitna predicted that the Lions would win 10 games this season. Now he's upping the ante. "See, that was 10 games before I saw the schedule, too," the quarterback told WDFN-AM (1130) this week. "I'll keep to myself what I think we actually will win. But it's more than 10 games." The Lions went 3-13 last season and are 24-72 in the Matt Millen era.

This guy has been hit in the head to many times.

I think he meant to say lose 10 games...about time for a physical to see if he's had a concussion cause that's by far one of the stupidest things i've heard all year.

June 24, 2007  11:58 AM ET

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is the funniest thing I've ever heard! He must have confused the word "win" with the word "lose." And then when he actually saw the schedule he realized they would actually lose more. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry Lions fans, but as long as Millen is running the show your team will continue to suck. I don't care how many Calvin Johnson's you have on your team.

OK, there's optimism and then there's dreaming.

My prediction: the Lions' draft pick next year will be in the top ten. Oh...then I looked at the schedule, and I'll keep to myself what draft pick I think they'll get, but it'll be higher than that.

I see Kitna will have a new job waiting for him when he retires from the NFL: standup comic.

June 24, 2007  01:20 PM ET

Stranger things have happened. But since Calvin Johnson won't be blocking on the offensive line....

June 24, 2007  01:51 PM ET

I think he saw the Saints turn around last year and thinks he can do the same. Somehow I doubt it. At best I figure they'll come close to .500 and thats if they're really lucky and Johnson exceeds the #'s people are expecting.

I love it. and what you don't realize is he's not completely talking out of his ****. i can see ten wins, not much more than that and It would be a hard fought ten but do able. They have an above average Running game the number 3 receiving tandem (before Calvin Johnson got there), a Qb that threw for over 4,000 yards and will do it again and they also picked up some pieces for both lines. I Love the enthusiasm.

June 24, 2007  02:07 PM ET

Ten might not be that far off.....they play the Vikings twice, so there's two w's

June 24, 2007  02:20 PM ET

Lets see Vikings (2 w's), Packers (2 W's) Bears (1 W) Half way there, Arizona (1W), Oakland (1W), Tampa (1W) getting close, Washington (1W) maybe. I see them at MOST 9 wins and that is barring any collapse of Philly, Giants, and the Bears. Lets not forget KC is in trouble all around so they could do it, likely? Don't bet on it.

June 24, 2007  02:29 PM ET

Jon kitna will not be a brodcaster when he retires because he does not know anything about football

June 24, 2007  03:27 PM ET

I see the Lions being 7-9 or maybe 8-8. 10+ wins not happening this year. Not until they upgrade the o-line a bit in nexts years draft + FA's

June 24, 2007  04:56 PM ET

OMGROTFLOL!!!!!!! Well, he's on the offensive side of the ball, which is the only bright spot for Detroit. The defense has now reached a complete and total level of suck with the departure of Dre' Bly......I'm not saying defense wins championships, but you got to have some of it. They have none.

June 24, 2007  07:19 PM ET

Did Kitna ever have a concussion? It would explain this whole thing.

June 24, 2007  07:59 PM ET

They still don't have a good offensive line or defense. They should shoot for 7-8 wins. That's more reasonable.

June 24, 2007  08:10 PM ET

You have to remember this is Jon Kitna talking. I repeat, Jon Kitna.

June 24, 2007  08:44 PM ET

HaHaHa he's a funny guy. The real funny thing is most people in the D stopped caring about the Lions years ago. There's a few faithful but that slips each year too. Lucky if they hit 7 wins. For a real football team Watch UofM instead.

June 24, 2007  09:19 PM ET

WOW, he has some guts what a joke and a half, Sims and Johnson are the only good players on that team

June 24, 2007  10:16 PM ET

That is a load of crap and he should not be saying that he is dumb and I live in Michigan and we only have enough room for a person like that and that is Rasheed and we don't need another. This will blow up right back in his face.

June 24, 2007  10:46 PM ET

This can happen with Barry Sanders coming back, and with Ray Lewis on defense, and the rookie Brady at QB. Kitna should have said that the Lions will be in the Superbowl. I quess he did not what to sound to sure of himseft. Kitna for MVP.

June 25, 2007  12:35 AM ET

Hey, I surely wouldn't bet the ranch on the Lions winning 10+ games, but stranger things have happened. I bet most of the people here don't realize how many truly close games the Lions almost won last season. Yeah, I know....have a good laugh, but we all should at least admire the enthusiasm of the leader of this team...
