While the Browns are poised for tough negotiations with Brady Quinn, they're also prepared for a possible holdout by No. 3 overall pick Joe Thomas, the projected starting left tackle. Thomas' agent, Peter Schaffer of All Pro Sports and Entertainment, said it's his goal and Thomas' to be signed by the time rookies are scheduled to report on July 23.

Quinn - who cares?? Thomas - something for Browns fans to worry about.

June 24, 2007  01:12 PM ET

Haha, it looks like they're holding hands.

June 24, 2007  01:22 PM ET

BRADY THINKS HE IS #1.. AND WILL GET IN THE WAY..

THOMAS SHOULD MAKE MORE THAN QUINN

June 24, 2007  01:22 PM ET

How you say a tackle only allowed one sack is beyond me...maybe you could say that about an end, but in general allowing (or denying) sacks is a full O-line type thing.

June 24, 2007  01:35 PM ET

Joe Thomas is the real thing, he's worth every penny he gets... I was torn on draft day as a raider fan thats who I wanted, but JaMarcus over time has grown on me. Quinn on the other hand is garbage. NFL scouts I've had the privilege of communicating with said he's no better than a 3rd round pick and the only reason there was any talk about him is that he went to Notre Dame.

I would have to agree about Thomas' "One" sack referance. I mean take a look at Leonard Davis, the same was said about him. Yes he got big money this year and maybe he'll be better in Dallas but come on Thomas is in Cleveland (the AFC's version of the Cardinals). Not worth a high price but because of his high pick then yes he deserves it lets not forget a QB should be paid more than his line so Cleveland screwed themselves with this one.

"lets not forget a QB should be paid more than his line"

Not when your QB is Quinn.

June 24, 2007  02:17 PM ET

whatever happens, the sad part is the lack of foresight by the Browns. When they traded back into Round 1, they needed to know that they would have to dish out two first round contracts, and that Quinn, as a player considered (wrongly perhaps) an elite player in pre-draft considerations and as a QB, would seek pay higher than last year's 22 pick. If you can't afford them, don't draft them, it's really that simple.

June 24, 2007  02:18 PM ET

Rookie contracts are not paid based upon the position, but rather by the round and pick they are selected. Thomas will make major money because he was #3. Quinn will make considerably less from the Browns because he slid to #22. But don't tell Quinn's agent, he thinks that Quinn is entitled to more because he should have been picked earlier. It should be interesting to see what transpires.

June 24, 2007  02:21 PM ET

I dont think his ego will allow him to accept a contract that isnt = to a top 5 pick. He still thinks he's the best QB in the draft and would probably like to make more than Russel.

June 24, 2007  02:26 PM ET

With these high price non proformer( Kellen Winslow, Kevin Shaffer, Joe Jurevicius, Jamal lewis, Charlie Frye, LeCharles Bently ect.) The browns will have less money to get real proformers.

June 24, 2007  03:32 PM ET

Pay Thomas if necessary, but forget Quinn.

June 24, 2007  03:33 PM ET

Pay Thomas if necessary, but forget Quinn. Pay hims as a 22nd pick.

June 24, 2007  03:44 PM ET

The #22 pick gets paid like one......

I know young Quinn continues to have a difficult time comprehending things, but he needs to start understanding a simple concept. He fell to #22 because in the opinion of hard nosed football men working the draft, there were 21 other youngsters they felt needed to be drafted before him.....

He will have ample time in his first contract to prove them all wrong. If he manages to do that, he will cash in on a contract that will make us all swoon and he will be happy knowing he was right all along and the rest of the world was wrong.

Simple....

June 24, 2007  04:43 PM ET

HAH! Quinn fell to number 22 because Cam Cameron's a dumb***. Miami should've taken him, and everyone knows it. No one after the ninth pick would've taken him in the first if Cleveland hadn't traded up.

June 24, 2007  04:49 PM ET

Quinn is way to overrated.

June 24, 2007  06:53 PM ET

If either one or both holds out, this will reflect badly upon Phil Savage. Combined with another losing season by Romeo Crennel, this will give Randy Learner the cover to bring in Bill Cowher.

You read it here first. Chudzinski will take over in mid-season, when the Browns have won no more than two games, then at the end Bill Cower will be announced as head football coach and head of football operations.

June 24, 2007  07:32 PM ET

To all Browns fans - please play "Quinn the Eskimo" by Dylan backwards three times. You'll get the message. Just a hint - one line says, "We don't give a shart."

June 24, 2007  08:09 PM ET

Brady Quinn reminds me a lot of Rick Mirer. That should scare any Browns fan.

Are Quinn and Thomas holding hands?? Ahh that's really cute...
