Georgia making late run at Tide commit

Georgia may be making a late run at Ridgeland's Michael Bowman, who is arguably the state's top wide receiver and committed to Alabama. And Bowman said he is willing to listen to the Bulldogs. "Georgia was my first love, and I will make up my mind at the end," Bowman told the AJC on Friday night. "I'm still committed to Alabama. But I have to consider all my options -- anything could happen." With the Crimson Tide going over final preparations in Atlanta for the SEC Championship, UGA assistant Stacey Searels stopped by Ridgeland on Friday to pick up film on Bowman and ask if he was interested in the Bulldogs. The 6-foot-5, 210-pound Bowman said Searels seemed excited that he indeed still interested. Bowman was told that UGA would call next week after reviewing his film to talk more about a scholarship offer.

Yup, everyone, the rich and poor, all want to get richer. Without that drive, many rich people would not have all that money.

Don't do it Bowman! Stay w Bama. They will be THE team in the SEC as long as Saban stays.

UGA can't seem to pull their head out of the sand.

Why would anybody want to go to UGA?

Oh please oh please oh please...

haha, why would anyone admit they're from Rome, GA. isn't that where the family trees have no branches?

December 6, 2008  11:55 PM ET

Only reason why UGA had not offered him before was because they were waiting on him to get his grades up. The story makes it sound like UGA had never even gone after him. I would love to have him opposite AJ. Which him the best either way he decides.

go to uga, they are going to suck big time next year and you can add to the flavor. the last thing i want to see is bama getting another receiver to go with jones

45-42, bad argument, pup.

If the kid wants to win a National Championship, he will stick with Bama.... If he wants to play for a chroic under-achiever, he will choose the dawgs.

Everyone wants to get richer, the rich are just the ones that actually do it.

Once every eight years you can beat an in state rival???? That ought to recruit well lol

Go to UGA, Bowman. That odor hanging over T-town is nasty.

December 8, 2008  10:36 AM ET

Hey Steeler....that odor is the stench left over from Auburn having their butts beat upon so bad! That smell is going away....just like Auburn being a player in the SEC anymore!!! Roll Tide...beat those Utes!

What is up with being "committed" but keeping your options open? Try that with your girlfriend (except the Tech guys who have a robot GF). "Honey, I am committed to you, but I am keeping my options open". (If a coach leaves, then I can understand keeping one's options open).

1) I am a UGA grad/fan so I would love to see the kid go to UGA so this is more of a global comment.
2) Rome is a very nice place. I grew up there. Atlanta has two many yankees and Tech fans!

"as long as Saban stays".... that is a critical factor now isn't it?

The coach leaving is absolutely understandable, but the ones who commit, soften, harden, decommit, soften, recommit, harden, soften...dam where's the viagra?
