Sabathia leaning toward Brewers?

05:39 AM ET 12.08 | Prior to Yankee GM Brian Cashman's meeting with CC Sabathia yesterday in Las Vegas, there was a feeling in the baseball universe the stud free-agent lefty would eventually re-sign with the Brewers. Since the Yankees' six-year, $140 million has been in front of Sabathia for more than a month, there are reasons he hasn't taken it. A popular theory is, he doesn't want to work in The Bronx. Another is that his wife, Amber, is encouraging him to wait for an offer from a West Coast team that may not be coming - that is, unless the Bay Area product wants to work cheap for the Giants. Now, there is talk of the Brewers, who have offered five years for $100 million, exploring ways to entice the 28-year-old Sabathia, who went 11-2 with a 1.65 ERA in 17 starts after being acquired from the Indians. According to a source who has talked to the Brewers, the club has enough money to sweeten the pot and offer "contract flexibility" that could include an opt-out clause after three seasons. The Yankees have believed it's been between them and the Brewers for a while. The Angels and Giants are looking for hitters before pitchers.

Wow, a New York Post scribbling that may be correct. C.C. is listening to his wife perhaps, a smart move. Can't blame her for not wanting to call the NYC Tri-State area home for much of the year and watch as the idiot fan base and local media dissect every thing this guy does. Just maybe the Evil Empire's cash can't reel him in.

If he's leaning they better get the hell out of the way.

They're driving up the price, nothing more.

As always Kieth, you're a tool.

Just sign somewhere, ya fat tub o' lard. Oh God, I just remembered, even when he does, this site will run two weeks of stories on how the Red Sox, Cubs and Mets went hard after him. Sigh, I guess it doesn't really matter.

Seriously...CC - follow you damn heart...yeah, I got it - it's not $140 million...but it is still $100 million! If you can be set for life on $100 million...what is $140 mil and playing in New York going to do for you? Nothing but stress.

Sign with the Brewers already! You know you will be loved. No one...not even the weak beat writers are going bash you in the press. Sign already man.

It's not good for the Cards if he stays in the NL Central, but it would be a good thing for baseball and for Milwaukee. I hope he stays.

*can't be set on $100 mil...not can.

Have you seen the Jersey Shore? a boardwalk filled with wiggers and guidos all under 17 years old. 3 blocks away is 40 square miles of corn fields. At least it looks that way.
