Following recent offers from Miami, North Carolina and Ohio State, Gainesville junior receiver Tailer Jones has seen his scholarship count climb into double-digits. The player Gainesville assistant coach Todd Wofford labeled the "best receiver in Class AAA" was offered by the Buckeyes on Monday. Coaches from Arkansas, Indiana, Maryland and Miami have visited him over the past week.

here come the haters

I'm not sure why this is news that just had to be printed. It must have been a very slow news day. Of course, it is the AJC so that might explain it.

Players get offered scholarships all the time and it isn't reported.

Not here. OSU is a great program. Hard to imagine a player from Gainesville going elsewhere though considering Florida's success.

I said it, because some fool is going to come in here and start dogging OSU, and then this is going to turn into a **** fest....

This kid is from Gainesville and he plays receiver. Odds are that he goes to Florida but then again great players have come out of Gainesville before and gone elsewhere: Clinton Portis for example who went to Miami.

Anyway, odds are he is a Gator but Ohio State does do a pretty good job of pulling in kids from Florida so you cant rule them out.

Nothing to hate - Gators haven't offered, not sure why.

December 9, 2008  11:16 AM ET

Mack Brown said after beating USC in the BCS Bational Championship that he turns down so many great athletes every year that some go on to burn him from other schools. Programs like Florida couldn't possibly take every great player that comes around because they can only dress like 66 players I think. Sometimes you just don't have room for them.

The Buckeyes Suck

Tai-ler Jones is from Gainesville, Georgia, not Gainesville, Florida.

Talk about backing into a bowl game, what did SC lose the last two games by, 80 - 100 points, great SEC defense!!! Didn't want to disappoint either.

I think there is a Gainesville in Georgia and that's where this kid is from.

LOL, that's funny!

Same school as Keith Wells, DL the Buckeyes got last year.

December 9, 2008  04:01 PM ET

Prior to this season there were at least 6 or 7 OSU fans who posted multiple times on every thread that even remotely concerned OSU. Every post went on and on about how great OSU was and how they were going to win the NC game this year, instead of acting like the Washington Generals. Funny, I have not heard a peep from these people since OSU failed to not only make the NC game, but failed to win the Big 10. Even funnier, many of these OSU fans were going back and forth with LSU fans, who also claimed to be enroute to the NC game. OUCH!!!!

December 9, 2008  04:03 PM ET

Further, why would anyone "hate" OSU? They aren't even the best team in a very weak Big 10.

December 9, 2008  04:28 PM ET

Ummmmm...... the Buckeyes DID win the B10
