08:11 AM ET 12.10 | For the last few weeks, UCLA basketball players have been asking fans to remain patient, to give them more time to gel as a team. This argument apparently makes sense to at least one onlooker -- John Wooden. peaking to reporters four days before the annual basketball doubleheader in Anaheim that bears his name, the respected former coach said he likes what he sees in the Bruins. "Good teams take time," he said. "They always do."

Not sure there are many impatient UCLA fans. Everyone knows this team is packed with freshmen. I guess some people were spoiled by the phenom that was Kevin Love....not all freshmen can play like that right out of the gate.

Earlobes and nose... both grow throughout one's life.

He helped pour the concrete at Memorial Stadium in Lawrence, KS. The stadium the KU (are they Jayhawks or Wildcats?) football team plays in today, the same stadium KU scored 76 points on (in football). No joke. Wooden poured it. He got to know Dr. Phog Allen and Dr. James Naismith and got the job through them. Weird but true story.

they better listen

I was getting kind of antsy. I'm sorry, but 3 straight years of being the bridesmaids is wearing thin. I know it's not reasonable, but it happens.

I look at it this way: If not for Florida's group, UCLA could have had back to back champs

But when Wooden speaks, especially about basketball, his opinion carries great weight. And so I must give them some slack.

What really gets me is that every year we have the same problem: only 1 or 2 real offensive options and if the opposing team can make others try to beat us, we haven't been able to. Howland is a defensive mastermind, but scoring and creating off the dribble have been our Achilles' heel for a while now.

When it comes to basketball, if Wooden said it, it's true.

The man is a role model for all human beings.
