Cameron-Cabrera deal appears back on

The on-again, off-again trade of Mike Cameron for Melky Cabrera appears back on again. Brewers general manager Doug Melvin told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel there's "a strong possibility it could still happen.'' And before he left here, Yankees GM Brian Cashman also spoke fairly positively to some people about the chances for a trade with Milwaukee. Some opposing executives seemed stunned the cash-rich Yankees asked Milwaukee to pay a portion of Cameron's $10-million salary for 2008, and Brewers people were not at all happy about that thought, especially after the Yankees outbid them by about $60 million for their own free agent starter CC Sabathia. So for a little while there, the chances for a quick trade looked iffy. That monetary request by the Yankees probably gets filed under the heading: Hey, it doesn't hurt to ask (as long as you don't mind some teasing from your compatriots). It's doubtful the Brewers will pay much, if any, of Cameron's deal. And yet, there's optimism now for a trade.

Make them eat the money or forget it. Set a new tone, and Cameron is not a 10 mil upgrade...

Brewers where stupid to big his option up for $10 mil to try and help keep CC, they had to know that he was leaving, uless the Yanks take him, Brewers could be stuck this year

PLEASE don't pick up this OLD strikeout machine
who's best days are LONG past him.

I'd honestly rather have gardner in center......

Just because I am a virtual money printing press and I have the money doesn't mean it's going to come out of my pocket.

The Brewers should pay about $3.5mill to $4mill of Cameron's contract.

Yanks are really going to balk at paying $10M? The Yankees are the ones who need an upgrade in center field and honestly $10M is below market value for what a cf costs these days. I still think Melky needs to be given time to develop but the Yanks do not look patient anymore so sadly I see him getting shipped out. Wonder how this will affect Cano being that they live together and are close friends.

Keep melky, pay Tex 20 and think of it as 10 and no Cameron...

Shipping Melky will be a wake up call to Cano. Produce, or you are out!
