Is Gill next on Syracuse list?

Syracuse has apparently offered the job to East Carolina coach Skip Holtz but reports late last night in Greenville, N.C., had Holtz turning down the job. If Holtz turns it down the attention goes to Buffalo???s Turner Gill, who has interviewed twice for the job. Gill, who has also interviewed at Auburn, won the MAC championship in 2008 in only his second season at the school. I talked to Gill late last night and he told me he had not heard from either Auburn or Syracuse since the interviews. Doug Marrone, a former Syracuse player now with the New Orleans Saints, is also in the mix for this job. According to media reports, Syracuse players have been told to stick close to campus this week. This one could pop today.

Well we already know the answer is no, but it should have been yes. Turner Gill was the right guy for this job and once again Syracuse finds a way to **** it all up.

The AJC must be in a different time zone, like yesterday.

This reminds me of how the day after Auburn fired Tuberville, the school newspaper published a story about how Tuberville was going to get it turned around and was ready to return to recruiting.

News flash: Eddie George favored to win the Heisman.

I want to see Turner go to a higher profile job than Buffalo in due course but not sure either of those jobs is the one for him. Who knows, if Nebraska doesn't show decent improvement in 2, 3 years the Big Red faithful may demand it.

I personally think Gill (and his assistants because no one does it alone) has done the most amazing coaching job around, bar none!

I read your comment in the AJC today and I was offended (LOL); actually the AJC appears to be about 2 days behind with all news, including world news & sports.

I am inclined to agree with you; I think he is preparing for the Huskers job if it opens in the next couple of years.
