Sources: Cubs want Bradley

Now that the Cubs have moved on from the Jake Peavy saga, general manager Jim Hendry turns his focus on what was supposed to be his main objective of the winter meetings. Sources outside the Cubs organization continued to insist Thursday that free agent Milton Bradley is the outfielder the club is hoping to reel in. How would the controversial outfielder be received in Chicago if he was signed by the Cubs? "Cubs fans would love him," said Frank Thomas, one of Bradley's former teammates in Oakland. "He's one of the best hitters I've ever seen."

Switch hitter, fired up and a little bit on the crazy side...I think we could use all that in Chicago.

December 12, 2008  07:11 AM ET

He's below average left handed over his career. This still doesn't get Lou what he wants.

December 12, 2008  07:13 AM ET

He's exactly what they need if he doesn't go insane and stays reasonbly healthy.Who would win in a fight Bradley or Zambrano?

December 12, 2008  08:08 AM ET

Will he clock the announcers in Chi-town?

December 12, 2008  08:43 AM ET

I would like to see Hendry go after someone that has a little more power and alot more stable, they are not spending any money on Peavy so they should be to find something

I disagree-
the manager has the crazy/feisty thing sewn up....

The METS could use someone like him to light a fire
under all their sorry arses.

"Cubs want Bradley"

No you don't!

December 12, 2008  09:34 AM ET

What?!?

December 12, 2008  09:41 AM ET

said Frank Thomas, one of Bradley's former teammates in Oakland. "He's one of the best hitters I've ever seen." Thomas goes on to say, "...and the biggest ****"

Eh-Hole

December 12, 2008  09:58 AM ET

Too bad. Bradley isn't durable enough to play everyday in the National League. He should be a DH in the American League like he was in Texas. Won't the Cubs and their fans be shocked if Bradley doesn't put up good numbers and has to sit sore a lot because he is expected to play OF everyday.

A fight between Bradley and Lou would be even more intriguing...

I say Lou will kick Bradley's rearend pretty easily. Nobody can mess with uncle Lou. Nobody.

December 12, 2008  10:25 AM ET

Bradley and Lou would make for an interesting dyanamic.

December 12, 2008  10:33 AM ET

injury-prone....fighter....complainer...

wasnt he the one that tore his ACL arguing with the UMP?

i do admit that the manager pushed him that time but still....

cmon i just dont think he'll be a good fit whatsoever with a happy go lucky club..and he's a sour **** person

December 12, 2008  10:42 AM ET

Does it reallt matter?

December 12, 2008  11:15 AM ET

Cubs may lose close to 100 this year. Watch. They're flailing now. Peavy, Derosa trade, Bradley, $$ to Dempster....this team has no direction and is in a 100+ year tailspin, let them wallow in the depths. We'd all be suprised what teams would do if they got no coverage whatsoever. Hell they may even win a round of the playoffs. Well, maybe not.

Now see here we have another interesting Nostradamus like prediction.

The "other" original Tony, are you saying the cubs would be good or not? really need to clear that up...
