Sources: Witten, Owens exchange terse words

Because it was not a big deal at all, Dallas Cowboys coach Wade Phillips held a team meeting Friday morning to discuss the latest chapters in a season that has had far more subplots and distractions than wins. In the meeting, Phillips, Terrell Owens, Keith Davis, Bradie James and Marcus Spears spoke. The point of the meeting was to not pay attention to the multitude of controversial stories coming out of the team's own locker room, and when the media does ask about it, to say nothing but instead talk about the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants. "It's a dead issue," receiver Patrick Crayton said. It might be, but it didn't come without a near altercation Friday between Owens and tight end Jason Witten in the Cowboys' locker room. According to two sources, the two exchanged words before being separated. Both players acted as if everything was fine when the media was allowed in the locker room. But Owens was still clearly miffed.

Surprise! The Cowboys are falling apart.

Is anyone really shocked? I would hope not.

Why does TO hate Witten? Is it because he can't run a route properly? come to think of it, that pisses me off too!

December 13, 2008  09:36 AM ET

With the Cowboys, even meetings about ignoring controversy create controversy, lol. They're going to need a United Nations peace keeping force in that locker room soon.

this article is a lie. no way does TO know what terse means

Sure he does because it almost looks Terrell. Anything close and he's all over it. Unlike a lot of passes.

OK big question: In a ring, who would come out alive? Witten or TO?

My pick is Witten only because he can take more punishment. TO is strong and if he ever got a headlock on you with those guns, he might squeeze the life out of you.

The UN is flaccid. TO would run all over them. They need the US Army Rangers.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

December 13, 2008  10:44 AM ET

I can't imagine the Cowboys becoming better as a result of this. Like him or not, it seems TO brings a cloud of negative energy with him wherever he goes.

December 13, 2008  11:08 AM ET

Yeah, but T.O. is not jealous of Jason Witten! Sure! And ..... Angelina is dumping Brad Pitt and asking me to move in with her!

December 13, 2008  11:12 AM ET

Question: If Owens beats up Pacman's body guard would the NFL suspend him? (PLEASE!)

Sorry, the UN isn't coming to the rescue until the Cowpies provide some women and children to rape.

Biased how? Because the Cowboys have more drama than a season of "Melrose Place"?

Agreed on both points. At the sight of the first Army Ranger, T.O. will break down and cry like a girl.
