Heisman loss motivates Tebow, Gators

It didn't take long for harsh feelings to spring up in Florida once it was announced on Saturday night that Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford had won the Heisman Trophy, and not Tim Tebow. When Florida's junior quarterback looked at his cell phone, he had 50 text messages from friends and teammates, all referencing Florida's Jan.8 date in the BCS national championship game against the Big 12 champion Sooners at Dolphin Stadium in Miami. "I can't tell you what they said, but I've got some good ones." Tebow said. Tebow, who won the Heisman last year but finished third in this year's voting behind Bradford and Texas quarterback Colt McCoy, will get a rare chance to prove the voters wrong when Florida takes on Oklahoma. "Why forget about it?" Tebow said. "I'll be motivated enough. I think it's probably even more motivation for my teammates. Just talking to them, they'll be excited." Said Bradford: "I'm sure they are, and I am, too."

Wow, a "Tim Tebow gets motivated" story. So freakin' what. He is the Miley Cyrus of college football. The media is his BFF. "Golly gee Tim, I so totally want you to win. OMG LOL RTOFL LMAO ABCD XYZ!!"

how can u be motivated that u didnt win it, when u didnt have the stats to win it? he wasnt even the 3rd best quarterback inthe nation this year but he gets a trip to NY anyway because he won it last year? whatever man!

December 15, 2008  07:48 AM ET

Harsh feelings? Where do they get harsh feelings?

December 15, 2008  07:56 AM ET

You can bet the article has already been posted in the Sooners locker room. Stoops just loves finding any and all perceived slights to his team and using them to make the players angry. He can turn just about any comment into disrespect.

Who writes this crap? Tebow said: "you lose, you lose". He wasn't pissed or upset. UF is getting ready for OU now. Whoever wrote this is an idiot.

December 15, 2008  08:37 AM ET

All three of them are lucky to be there. The real Trophy belonged to Graham Harrell.

Last I checked, the Heisman was for the most outstanding player in collegiate football. I don;t remember it saying it is specific to the QB position. That's the O'Brien award. You should really try to get your facts straight before posting.

And every other subsequent 4,500 yd QB at TTU.

The real winner should have been OU's line.

December 15, 2008  08:53 AM ET

ENOUGH ALREADY.....

I am FREAKIN' sick and tired of Tebow stories....

I'm EXPECTING anyday now to read that he was seen WALKING ON WATER...

Let me get this straight....

Tebow is SUPPOSED to be "I'm Mr. Leadeship-Classy Guy."

Then WHY does he NEED to say this???

"Why forget about it?" Tebow said.

Did that at the Doak this year.

December 15, 2008  09:12 AM ET

Everything motivates Tebow, however I expect him to come out with a point to prove on January 8. I think he proves it too. Rooting for the Gators, but win or lose I think Tebow is going to have a damn good game.

True that. They act like he's perfect. No one is. He's probably got the biggest, sickest secret of them all. It's just a matter of time before we find out he's like Buffalo Bill throwing people in a well and yelling "It puts the lotion in the basket!"

December 15, 2008  09:37 AM ET

I just hope they don't find out until after he goes pro.

... and if that's the case it could have went to a number of players... including Crabtree or Harrell from Texas Tech.

The fact Tebow gets so much hype is sickening... you would think he were Herschel Walker or Tony Dorsett. For that matter, even Doug Flutie was a better player in college than Tebow.

I actually think Tebow is a good college player... but the statements about "possibly greatest college player ever" and "biggest impact player" are exaggerated and not true.

Not any different than the Florida QB's under Spurrier... like Danny Wuerfel...

... and where is he now...?
