Not all Auburn fans on board with Chizik
Gene Chizik will be formally introduced Monday as Auburn's football coach. As soon as that's done, he'll have a lot of work to do. The former Tigers defensive coordinator needs to assemble a staff and salvage recruiting following Tommy Tuberville's resignation. He also faces some skepticism among fans, in part because his Iowa State team lost its final 10 games this season, leaving his record there at 5-19 in two seasons. The Cyclones opened this season with wins over South Dakota State and Kent State before the bottom fell out. Iowa State ended the year on a 10-game losing streak and finished winless in the Big 12. Like Chizik, Tuberville's background was as a defensive coordinator. Auburn's biggest problems came on the other side of the ball, where the Tigers ranked 110th in scoring offense last season. Tuberville fired first-year offensive coordinator Tony Franklin in midseason when a switch to the spread offense failed to pan out.

When the team that you steal your coach from cheers in the street, you have made a serious boo boo.

Why would you get rid of Tuberville to get a guy who is 5-19 in the last two seasons? What in the world are they thinking?

I myself live in ames, and am an avid Iowa State fan/student. We couldn't be happier that Chizik is gone, most of us didn't want him in the first place. Auburn, you can have him, and then just fire him in a couple years when you don't win games. Waste of money, but thanks for taking him!

A list of Chiz's 5 wins:
2008 (2) - KENT ST, SOUTH DAKOTA STATE
2007 (3) - IOWA, K-STATE, COLORADO - Losses to KENT STATE, NORTHERN IOWA
Also, as you pine away for the 2003 Glory Days of your 13-0 season that he was your DC, remember - HE LEFT YOU FOR THE SAME POST AT TEXAS! Not a HC gig, a lateral move.
You hired a loser HC who was a proven traitor to you. Nice resume! Better hire!

HA HA HA HA AH AHA AH AHA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA Yes, this is the guy who will lead you to glory. If you seriously think he will be better than Tuberville you are sadly mistaken. Idiots.

I really don't get this hire. He put together a horrible record at Iowa State, plus Auburn's biggest problem was on offense and not defense. To hire a defensive minded coach, even if he did have a great defense at his time in Auburn, wasn't the best move.

I dont know what the AD was thinking. Turner Gill, Charlie Strong, The ball state coach, beg Tommy to come back. Anything! This dude better pan out or the Auburn AD is out! Unless the booster made this move then he will be safe for 2 seasons. Boosters means backstabbers or bandwagon in football talk!

Sorry - 2003 was Jet Gate, 2004 was the 13-0 season - both are historically important for Auburn

This hire is a total joke. How can a coach with a 2 year record of 5-19 get a job? WOW!

Gene Chizik quote as he left for Texas - "You can't win a national championship at Auburn and that's why I'm leaving".
This was a bad hire. 6 in a row, anyone? Might be in the other direction.

Did he really say that? And they hire a guy who 4 years ago didn't believe Auburn could win the title AFTER they went 13-0? They've been worse lately. There were more qualified candidates, but they wanted one of their own, even if he is a proven loser as HEAD COACH. He's one hell of a defensive coordinator though.

No, they're going to buy out Charlie Weis's contract from Notre Dame to have an offensive genius.
