Holt: Official used Jumbotron to call interference
Rams receiver Torry Holt said an official used the video scoreboard to call a penalty yesterday, taking away St. Louis' biggest play of the second half against the Seattle Seahawks. After the last-play, 23-20 loss to the Seahawks (3-11), Holt said the official called pass interference after watching the replay in the third quarter. "He said he looked up in the Jumbotron and saw that I pushed off," said Holt, who is in his 10th year with the Rams (2-12). "I told him I never extended my arm. It is one thing if you extended, because that is pass interference. But everything was in motion catching the football. I don't even know if I had my hands on the guy. "That was his explanation, and I told him it was a bad call."

The Jumbotron looks different from real life?
I guess that means the Rams have the worst home-field advantage in the NFL.

R U kidding me? The Ref and every person in the stadium looks up there, why would he not use the Jumbo-tron, what does he think goes on "under the hood" on a challenge...LOL

Shut up Torry Holt, your team is a disgrace to the NFL. When your team wins three games, then you can **** about the officials.

Cornholers suck, yes indeed. In fact, they suck so bad it's no real fun to hate them anymore. The Sooners on the other hand will be playing for the NC in January. Go Sooners.

It's still not right for them to make a call like that, regardless of record. It's a bunch of Bull ****.
But as a Rams fan, I am happy we lost, gotta keep the future in mind. Sam Bradford to St. Louis ;)
Yeah....right.....

"He said he looked up in the Jumbotron and saw that I pushed off"
So, you pushed off? Then he tries to backpedal. Whoop dee do, this was a couple of toilet bowl teams in a laughable division. Hardly news. And it should be about getting the calls right. I think that Rams scoreboard / jumbotron operator may be updating his resume though.

Not REAL clear what happened here, it does not clearly indicate when he threw the flag? Am I to understand that the flag came when Holt was enroute back to the huddle and the flag caming lobbing in? Did he throw the flag and then look up at the screen to double check his call? That is a pretty "human" reaction......

Technically they are not supposed to watch the stadium monitors at all unless a replay was called for. The new home field advantage is video prowess of the jumbotron guy. Challenge plays are more frequently won in home stadiums because of this. The same could be said to create penalties (Holt's complaint) or eliminate them. A single angle of a play frequently appears different than others. Holt's complaint is legitimate if the ref were watching the big screen. It colors their judgment by a biased party.

Finally! A good use for the Jumbotron instead of watching commercial and chubby cheerleaders in their late 30's!

In the Miami/Buffalo game last weekend in Toronto, several calls could definitely have been influenced by fans were the Rogers Centre jumbotron operator at all interested in the game. Every time a challenge was called, the screen immediately went to commercials for the new Jim Carrey movie until the decision was made.
Then again, this Bills "home game" was really an away game, given 2/3 of the audience being Dolfans, but that's for another day...

The Lions, Rams, Bengals, and my beloved Browns should succeed from the NFL.

That's horrible. I swear our (Pats) jumbo operator is showing replays right after a weird play. It always seems like Belichick is staring at the jumbo. It's the largest tangible benefit for the home teams in this day (besides the noise from the fans of course). The home and away ball difference is gone. Parity parity parity.
