UNC recruit tells Spurrier 'thanks, but no thanks'

Steve Spurrier gave it his best shot with Perry offensive lineman Johnnie Farms, but apparently it did not work. Farms is not going to make an official visit to South Carolina. If you remember, Farms committed to South Carolina, and then switched to North Carolina after saying the education "was a little better [at UNC] than South Carolina." Then Spurrier traveled to Perry to tell Farms about the advantages of playing in the SEC over the ACC, along with his own academic research. He heavily encouraged Farms to visit South Carolina to learn more. The 6-foot-3, 306-pound Farms appreciated the conversation with Spurrier, but told the AJC he will not take an official visit to South Carolina. Farms said he called The Old Ball Coach to let him know the news.

the ol ball coach will have the c----o-----c----k-----s playing big time ball as soon as they get the QB situation ironed out.

If Lou Holtz could not get South Carolina to be competitive in the SEC and maintain a reasonable level of success, there is no way on God's green Earth the Ole Ball Coach will. He is a good coach but not an all time great like Holtz.

He should go ahead and retire. He doesn't want to put in the effort to make SC successful and he thinks his name will draw in recruits. Well, that has not happened.

The Ole Ball Coach won was it 6 SEC titles at Florida and the national championship? I would consider him an all time great coach. Florida was completely inconsistent before Spurrier. Lou could never achieve the offense Spurrier could.

Butch Davis will have success in the ACC, but the question is whether or not he will stay more than a few years. And, if you were to compare Butch Davis and Spurrier, Spurrier certainly has a more decorated record as a college coach.

Hard to see how OBC can recruit well enough there to make that happen.

I love Darth Visor, but he is not a recruiter and it is showing at SC. I will be the first to admit that UF, FSU, UM, Texas, and USC have the easiest recruiting gigs in the country. Most of the talent is within a stones throw away from your school and half the kids have had your school colors on their diapers. It's not a hard sell. Success at these schools makes it that much easier to recruit. Suffice it to say equal effort does not provide equal results

Get used to that!

I think Alabama has it fairly easy. A lot of good players come out of Alabama as long as you can lock down recruiting. It looks like Coach Saban is doing that. Throw in a sprinkling of great players from Florida and you're in really good shape.

Yeah, they definately have the crimson diaper group covered. It's hard to get the top players outta there now that the Nicktator is in town.

Little Stevie will never bring an SEC Title, much less a National Title, to Columbia. Bank it.

No one ever talks about Meyer but he has to be working as hard as Saban. Everyone just assumes Meyer is going to have a great year every year. MUST BE NICE to have that!!

We are fine...Things are proceeding at our leisurely, laid-back pace. When we climb that mountain, we'll be EQUALLY SLOW...about coming down...Don't cry for Evita...!!!!
