How Harvick plans to get around test ban

Todd Berrier, crew chief for Richard Childress Racing's Kevin Harvick, expects that his team will test at least 10 times next year despite NASCAR's ban on testing at all tracks that host its Sprint Cup, Nationwide, Truck, East and West series. Berrier expects his team will look at options such as the Virginia International Raceway and Heartland Park Topeka (Kan.) road courses, along with Rockingham Speedway in North Carolina and the half-mile Sandusky Speedway in Ohio. None of the facilities is covered by the ban. "The places you can test, you're going to test," Berrier said in a phone interview Monday. Berrier expects the No. 29 team to test several times throughout the season at non-NASCAR venues and possibly before the season begins, weather permitting.

it was only a matter of time

We knew this would happen, nascar left an Out for this on purpose.
Morning All.

Nascar can't control non-Nascar tracks. I don't know if they could issue a directive to all Nascar affiliated teams prohibiting testing. That would probably lead to law suits and money spent and right now there is no money.

The 'Ban' was a lame attempt at cutting costs, but we all knew teams would just do exactly what Harvick's is doing. No surprise and really no story. Jack Roush is probably having a tantrum LOL

Yea, so much for Jack's "gentlemen agreement".

instead of testing at the rock.. how about, BRING A RACE BACK!!!

December 17, 2008  10:49 AM ET

Racing at the Rock would be better, but it isn't owned by one of the power brokers of NASCAR tracks.

I think they should have a race weekend at the Rock, one day for each series. Practice in the morning, qualify, then race.

chapman I agree with the same day practice, qualify and then race.
