Hill interested in Magic reunion?

A little more than a year after parting ways, the Magic and Grant Hill would be interested in getting back together. Neither Hill nor the Magic can say so publicly --- there's that thing called tampering --- but my sources are impeccable on this end. The Magic could trade, say, J.J. Redick for Hill in a transaction that might make sense for both sides. At 36, Hill doesn't know if he fits into the Suns' plans after the season and can be a free agent after the season. The Suns just acquired shooting guard Jason Richardson and more moves could be on the way under General Manager Steve Kerr.

Sounds good to me... Hill has always been one of my favorite players... I just wish he hadn't had so many injuries, otherwise he would have been up there with the best of them... Go Dukies!!!

Don't do it Grant. That's your bad luck city. Nature does not allow you to play there. You might get injured again and it could take you straight to retirement. Enjoy what you have time playing.

I am just confused by some of Phoenix moves..seems last year they made some win now moves ( shaq), and this year they completely change course, and it appears to have gotten an early start on rebuilding

I mean no disrespect to Grant Hill but that's a meh trade. Grant doesn't make Orlando better, and for J.J. Redick it would just be a change of scenery.

I would do the deal if I was the G.M. of the Magic, just to get rid of Redick.

My second team magic dont want or need you!

December 17, 2008  09:36 AM ET

Wow, everyone's trying to bail cactus city huh? What's going on out there. Steve Kerr's blowing up the team. Next coach fired will be Terry Porter and Kerr won't make it past this season either.

December 17, 2008  10:06 AM ET

Grant Hill is just chasing a ring at this point in his career. But the magic surely won't be there.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

I would like to see Redick in a run and gun system, and it looks as if Phoenix are going back to that so I like the trade. Hill is old and isn't good anymore. Too much injuries. GIVE REDICK A CHANCE TO SHINE!

How is this sports reporting? It must one hell of a slow day in here. I mean the "journalist" is basically making up the story.

Hill will retire if he doesn't like it in Phx.... but there's always the Spurs who would welcome him with open.... wheelchairs.

December 17, 2008  10:53 AM ET

Seriously, Impeccable sources??? hmmmm......if they are so impeccable, and its that serious why does it sound like this journalist is just slinging out ideas........."say, JJ Reddick" haha come on what would the suns do with him? # 1, he left his Jumper at duke, and isn't much of a defender.......soooooo why would the suns trade a starter for a scrub. . . . . AND why would the magic want him back?? im not sure that fans down there are too happy with him anyway.

Ya know... going from D'Antoni to Porter is kinda like Houston going from Jeff Van Gundy to Rick Adelman.... Suns go from all offense to defense, Rockets go from stifling defense to offense.... only thing is, Adelman is approaching this all differently with better results. He seems to be encouraging the defensive tendencies they learned under Van Gundy, while running his offensive style and giving them all a chance to learn the calls and make them on court themselves.

All signs with Porter point to him throwing away the offense entirely that the team was built for, and forcing his defense down their throats along with his set-up offense... there's no transition like Adelman is doing... it's weird watching the Suns... overall, they're still doing ok... but if they keep on this pace they'll either miss the playoffs or get swept round 1... they just aren't a team anymore.

Grant Hill is a class act, but to say that he is on the down side of his career would be an understatement. Smart money says he may have a year or 2 left after this one...maybe. Reddick's problem is that he can't create the space off the dribble to get his own shot. In Phoenix he could become a spot-up shooter--a poor man's Bruce Bowen.

"GIVE REDICK A CHANCE TO SHINE! "

Please! For Redick it will be the same pine bench, but in a different city! But seriously though, I think Redick could learn a lot from Nash. And I don't know why people are saying Grant Hill is too old. He may not be dunking on heads anymore, but his game is still better than 60% of the league. Especially with the achievement bar for the NBA being so low these days.

December 17, 2008  01:11 PM ET

Why would you revisit Hill ?
be basically set the franchise back 5 years with his injury issues.

December 17, 2008  01:13 PM ET

The celtics need to go after hill, hill is still a defensive presence and could help a little with replacing posey. At this point in his career your going to get a very motivated hill because he knows that's his last chance at a ring. I don't think his game is completelly gone yet he just needs to be motivated because he knows in phoenix whats the point, there going to be 1st round exits anyway

December 17, 2008  01:33 PM ET

why not go to Detroit, where he started his career? if Sheed and AI leave, he could be a good compliment to Lebron or Bosh should they nab either player...

December 17, 2008  01:35 PM ET

I think Hill has another couple good seasons left. So get the deal done. Redick sucks and i dont think he has much of a career left but you never know, maybe the right coach could get him to start jacking up treys again.

Redick could learn a lot from Nash? What... how not to play defense? And I don't think Grant Hill has as much left as you think.
