Chizik's hiring surprises Auburn recruit

Parkview's Brandon Jacobs, an Auburn commitment, told the AJC he was surprised when the Tigers hired Gene Chizik, and said he is waiting to speak with the former Iowa State head coach and former Auburn assistant. "It gets me thinking about what offense they will run," Jacobs said in a text message. "But I haven't had a chance to talk with [Chizik] and see what he's about; he's supposed to call this week." Jacobs said he was surprised that Chizik got the job over Buffalo coach Turner Gill, who became a subject of conversation after not being offered the Auburn job. Former Auburn basketball player Charles Barkley made national news when he said Gill, an African-American, did not get the job because of race.

The Cohen Bros should make a movie about this. Kind of a 'Raising Arizona" type movie.

Auburn is going to be the Michigan of the SEC. Might actually be worse than UM.

Gill should have gotten the job, because he's blacker than Chizik by a mile and the darker the pigment of your skin, the better a HC you will be. I mean, it's crazy to take Chizik just because he was the D-coordinator for two programs that won a NC and had awesome defenses. It simply doesn't erase his inability to quickly turn around an Iowa State program (in 2 years) that has always had to scrape the bottom of the recruiting barrel every year because the Big12 and Big10 steal anything worth offering a scholarship to.

Yup, a coach that went 7-17 in the MAC his first two years is WAYYYY better than a coach that went 5-19 in the Big12 his first two.

And shame on Auburn for putting the defensive restructuring at the top of the list too! I mean, come on! You don't even need a defense in the SEC --- am I right or what?!

The part of Jay Jacobs, Auburn's "Lone Biker AD of the Apocolypse" can be played by none other than Randall "Tex" Cobb!

Come on people give the guy a break he was only 15 wins from having a 20-4 record.

Nice try, AngryCorgi. Truth is (in this case) the WHITER your skin, the better you can coach, because a coach coming off a LOSING RECORD has to be a better prospect than a coach coming off a CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP season by defeating a NATIONAL RANKED opponent with a bunch of ONE and TWO star recruits. I see you 'logic'. Idioit.

Now now boys play nice. He got the job because he looks better in glasses than Turner. Look at his picture don't he look the part of a smart SEC coach.

It was the tie that sealed the deal!

I have to agree with you. The color scheme of his tie matching the school's colors shows he knows what coaching in Auburn is all about!

Your inability to wield the English language is impressive.

BTW, whoever told you that capatilizing every letter in every 5th word makes your argument stronger was a genius!

And whoever told you that critizing a response that you obvious have no answer for is a genius. I will try and respond in smaller words so you can come up with a more clever comeback.
