Jacobs: We still own the ground

As the big, bad Panthers come to town with the hottest running tandem in the league, the Giantsare hoping running back Brandon Jacobs can lug the football on Sunday and restore the team's physical presence that's been sorely missing during a two-game slide. In vogue at the moment are Carolina's DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart, twin battering rams who turn seemingly innocent handoffs into game-changing runs. Out of fashion is Jacobs, whose production has dropped as the swelling in his left knee has risen. He didn't even play in last week's loss in Dallas."Let me get something straight, we're still No. 1 in the league," Jacobs proclaimed of the Giants' rushing attack. "The last couple games, three games we played haven't been very good and we're still No. 1 in the league. No matter how many yards some team chunk up we were that far ahead." Those are not the words of someone who expects to sit anything out, and indeed, he returned to practice yesterday and is fully expecting to play in Sunday's NFC showdown. The No. 1 seed in the conference awaits the winner, high stakes indeed.

That's right, sounds like the beast will be back! Now if he can just back up his words and stay healthy we are good. Giants will not lose 3 straight!

Plaxico won't be back this year. His season is over. His career may be over, unless he gets into the gay porn industry while in prison.

I can't see them losing three straight either. This will be an excellent test. It seemed as though the intensity was down a few notches over the past two weeks. Let's see if they can turn it back up this week. If they can, maybe it'll be best to rest guys against Minnesota (McKenzie, Eli, Jacobs, Hixon, Robbins, Pierce, Tuck).

Nah, we didn't let them do anything last week. The Cowboys did what they wanted to do. We have been inept on offense the past two weeks. I don't care how good Plaxico is and how many double teams he is drawing...even a so-so offense would be able to sustain one drive in two weeks. To me, it was a combo of playing very poorly and the Cowboys defense being desperate.

depends on what helps them the most in the playoffs....by letting the cowboys win, it increased the chances that the cowboys might get the top WC spot and the giants would then play Atlanta or Tampa in the first round instead of the cowboys....they gave that last game to Dallas to serve their own interests....all of that is assuming they can beat the Panthers this week though....

That's a big risk. It's also assuming that Dallas wins out. Otherwise, they may see Philly in the Divisional Round. I'd rather see Philly than Dallas, but in a perfect world, both would be out.

Do you read what you posts before you hit the submit button? The Giants gave the game to the Cowboys? They wanted Eli to get hit 8 times? They wanted two o-line men to get hurt? We get, you hate the Cowboys and think they suck. But atleast try to make sense when you type..

Cowboys don't suck. They swallow. Kidding. Giants gave them nothing on purpose. However, they did play as poorly on the offensive line as they did against Philly. Dallas' defense is very good, but when McKenzie got hurt, the Giants had no chance. Boothe was a debacle.

I know the Giants were beat up and not close to 100%. But no team is at 100% right now. The Giants are still the team to beat IMO. But the Dallas defense has been pretty good since after the bye week and Newman came back. I would love to play the Giants in the playoffs because we owe them one from last year..

You is coming into our house on sunday... wow... let me try... you is edumacated... How did I do? Can i ride the short bus next to you, I have an extra helmet...?

Giants are done... unless you believe Joe Horn is going to save them at 149 years old...

QUOTE(#16):

how else can you explain Dallas pathetic D suddenly performing WAY above their level?

Do you watch football or not? Dallas defense has given up 4 TD the last 5 games. So all those teams just bowed down in front of the Cowboys? The Cowboys lead the led in sacks. They're 7th in total defense only 2YPG behind the Giants. I know you hate the Cowboys...they suck...yea yea yea. But atleast try to sound like you know what you're talking about.

They obviously wouldn't plan to lose with injuries but it would be utterly ignorant to ignore the possibility that they wanted to lose....

Yes, they wanted to lose. I'm sure Coughlin said that in his pre-game speech. Let's go out and lose tonight guys!

Haha...I don't blame you for wanting revenge. Honestly, after that game, that was my Super Bowl. Ruining their season basically cemented a successful season for the Giants last year. I say I would have been happy even if we had lost to Green Bay, but I was cursing at Tynes after that 35-yard attempt (if you want to call it an attempt).

No team is at 100%, but most teams have guys that are playing banged up because of desperation. Once McKenzie's back tightened up, they took him out. They sat Jacobs. Losing a very solid tackle and a pro-bowl caliber RB hurts. But I really shouldn't be talking to Cowboys fans about injuries. Again, I am not making excuses because Dallas did what a good team should do. They beat up on a team that they should have beaten up on.
