Eagles receiver unhappy with benching

Eagles receiver Reggie Brown is not happy that he was left out of the lineup and out of uniform for two straight weeks. Asked why he thinks receivers Hank Baskett and Jason Avant moved ahead of him, Brown said yesterday: "I don't know. That's a question you need to ask Reid, then you can come back down here and tell me, because I don't know. I don't get answers. I'm in the dark right now. I've tried to. I don't get answers." Reid, of course, would be coach Andy Reid.

Maybe it means "get a clue?" But let me take a shot: you don't separate, your hands are mediocre, you don't have a height or speed advantage.
Baskett - height/jump advantage
Avant - excellent hands
Hell, even Greg Lewis has some speed.

Yeah thats why they took him in the second round. Hes a better WR then all those guys and has been solid till this year when he had injuries. Reid is quick to turn his back on people. I guarantee you that Reggie is the hardest working guy out there. Hopefully they will trade him so he can get away from Reid and Donovan's man love they have going on.

Reid is quick to turn on people? Are you kidding? He's carried McNabb's water for years, through all the injuries and chokes he has had in the playoffs.
Fact is that Reggie Brown drops passes, hardly ever gets separation, and is not comfortable with McNabb. Curtis and Jackson are twice the receiver that Brown is. Not to mention that since Avant seems to be a quality slot receiver, BVrown is the odd man out.

Are you kidding me? Do you even watch the Eagles?

The Eagles have been using him as a top-two receiver his entire young career. The guy has had three and a half years of opportunities and has proven to be mediocre at best. He's not improving and at this point. He actually appears to be regressing. For years the Eagles have been considered to have a weak receiving corp... Reggie Brown only helps to fuel that fire.

Reggie Brown has played 8 games this season. He was shut out in 3 of them. He's only got 13 catches all season. The guy is an absolute waste of a starting position.

The Eagles receivers are getting the job done without Reggie Brown. Why should they put him back in the starting lineup? You want to draft position? Yes, the Eagles drafted him in the second round. Does that guarantee success? Hell no. Forget about draft position. Reggie Brown deserves the bench. He should be happy to keep it warm.

a.nomaly is right - Reggie Brown has never lived up to his hype.

When you have a job to do (Brown's job is to catch a football) and you don't do it (he drops a lot) Your boss or Coach (IE REID) will use someone else (if available) to get the job done. Baskett, Avant and Jackson all stepped up when Curtis was out. He will get his shot this weekend since it seems Baskett is banged up. Now that he will have another shot to prove himself and make up for sucking all i can say to you reggie is... Catch the ball, its what they are paying you to do. Do that and they will come back to you every week. Ask DeSean Jackson, Jason Avant and Hank Baskett.

"Reid, of course, would be coach Andy Reid."

Thanks, would never have figured that out otherwise. How hard is it these days to get a degree in journalism, probably easier than womens' studies.

lol... quality

He should not even have #86, Fred Barnett was too good for him to wear 86...
Like everone else, I don't understand why his is angry. His numbers don't say anything.

I did like him, but 3 years and no big improvment, sorry got to go..

Bring in #17 from Clevland next year!!

Go Birds...

Avant has caught nearly everything thrown in a 1 yard radius of his body. Reggie dropped passes left and right. Why, again, is he confused?

Solid? He's been anything but. He was a draft day mistake and it's obvious the Eagles have come to terms with that.

December 19, 2008  09:42 AM ET

Reggie this is ANDY talking to you and the answer why you have been on the bench is that you just aren't good enough. The team is 3-0 with you on the bench. Maybe if we would have thought about this earlier we would be 14-0.

December 19, 2008  09:46 AM ET

Another NFL wanna be thug heard from - is it something about the wide receiver position that seems to affect normal humans and turns them into T.O, Plaxico, Ocho-Cinco; ad nauseum?

December 19, 2008  10:11 AM ET

I just think Reggie is the odd man out cause he doesn't play special teams. Curtis is the number 1, Jackson at 2 and PR, Avant at 3 and a decent special teamer, Baskett at 4 and a good special teamer with Greg Lewis at 5 and a good special teamer

December 19, 2008  10:22 AM ET

Is he kidding? Reggie, you are a quieter version of Freddie Mitchell - another high draft pick WR that provides nothing more than mid-range skills (if that). You are replaceable and the coaching staff is just getting a head start on ushering you out the door. Thanks for your time and contribution - now turn in your playbook.

cut his ****

December 19, 2008  10:27 AM ET

Reggie Brown doesn't understand why he has been benched? Are you kidding me?

Simple answer. DeSean Jackson is fast and explosive with good hands. Hank Basket can stretch the field as well and gets great height on the ball. I think he is outstanding. And then you have Jason Avant who catches anything and everything with in reach. A solid possession receiver.

Reggie had his chance and was overtaken by better talent. Simple as that. I am clad Reid finally stopped playing musical receivers and allowed McNabb to develop real chemistry with his receiving crew.

December 19, 2008  10:50 AM ET

Reggie, you're not even good enough for the CFL! Enjoy playing Arena ball next year. Oh, sorry, the AFL has cancelled the 2009 season. Try working a job in the real world. Bet that will provide motivation to learn how to catch the ball and ****!

I'll tell you why.....cause I got your sorry as* in my fantasy
league!
