Zubov hopes career not over

Dallas Stars defenseman Sergei Zubov will have surgery in January to address a lingering hip injury and will miss the rest of the season. But he hopes to continue his NHL career, Stars co-general manager Les Jackson said. Zubov, 38, missed 35 of the last 41 regular-season games last season because of a fractured foot and a sports hernia. He returned to play 11 playoff games. He has played 10 of 31 games this season. Zubov visited a specialist in Colorado this week and will have the surgery there. Zubov, the highest-scoring Russian-born defenseman in NHL history, is the only defenseman with 30 or more assists in each of the last 12 seasons. He is 16th in career assists by a defenseman (619).

I always liked Zubov. Get well and come back real quick Sergei.

Good luck to Zubov

Yeah, hopefully this isn't the end for Zubov. Get well.

Hope this isn't it for Zubov. He's still one of the best in the NHL when he's on the ice.

"Zubov hopes career not over"

So do the Dallas Stars .... and so do hockey fans everywhere who admired your abilities ... and hated you for it!

I have seen him play few times.

I saw him play in the playoffs I believe cant really tell you I saw his skills. However his stats prove how well he played.

I hated to see him tee up from the point on the PP against the Oilers over the years! He killed us every time! Not only is he a very intelligent D-man but an excellent QB on the power play!

He knows how to play the game and it hurts Dallas that he can't perform.

But he's getting up there in age so they shouldn't be counting on him for much any longer.

I was wondering if his career is going to be over with all his injuries he has been going through this year and last. sad. in the playoffs last year he was really bad and you could tell he wasn't healthy then either. Don't let it end here zubov we need a year or 2 more out of you.

Zubov and Leetch on the PP for the Rangers was a thing of beauty to watch...best of luck Zub

You didn't notice him because that's the kind of player he is. All of us stars fans know how quiet, shy and humble Zubie is. His presence on the ice *ALWAYS* calms the team.

If you haven't noticed, he's one of the best D men anywhere in the league yet anytime it comes around to awards season, he always defers the congrats and such to his teammates. Never once did he try to sell himself to win an award. Never once did he try to go "LOOK AT ME I MADE US WIN". A true team player to the end.

As for the person... I've talked to the guy a couple of times and you want to talk about someone with LOADS of class. He's meek but very friendly. Shy and hard to catch (sneaky man...) but if you do get the chance to talk to him... wow.

I'm glad he plays for the Stars and will continue to play for them.

GET WELL SOON ZUBIE!@!@ GO STARS!!!

Thank god its another Sundin or Burke story

Anyway as a Stars fan best of luck Zubov. You are awesome and were always a fantasy pick of mine (nobody else knew who you were)
