Lakers, T-Wolves consider Plan B

Minnesota owner Glen Taylor was expected to be in the Timberwolves' offices this morning before departing for a honeymoon in China. His appearance at team headquarters suggested a quick resolution on the Lakers' proposal, which includes forward Lamar Odom and center Andrew Bynum. However, sources said that Kevin McHale, the Timberwolves' vice president of basketball operations, wasn't keen on the Lakers' offer. In another scenario, the Lakers could include center Kwame Brown in the deal and also acquire Troy Hudson or Marko Jaric to address a need for a ballhandling guard while lifting an unfavorable contract off the Timberwolves' books.

If your gonna trade KG ship his **** to the hawks. who care if he likes it or not, and decides to opt out next year. At least you'll get good young talent, and picks from this year's draft.

I like this deal. But I would also suggest a four-way deal that involves the Lakers, Timberwolves, Rockets and Kings. The Lakers should send Odom, Bynum and Radmanovic to the Wolves for Garnett and Hudson or Craig Smith. They will then send Cook and his poison pill contract to the Rockets for Luther Head and Kirk Snyder. Lastly, they will send Kwame Brown to the Kings for Ron Artest. They traded 5 players away and got 5 quality players in return. If Jerry Buss wantsto break his bank, he should also go after Chauncy Billups. :)

I don't care what it takes make it happen and I'm sicl of all you racist kobe haters talking about he needs to be in jail yeah right next to those duke players deal with that

By the way I tried this out on the Trade Machine of another site and it was approved. Some food for thought for Mitch Kupchak. Garnett, Hudson/ Smith, Artest, Head and Snyder would surely play well with Bryant, Walton, Turiaf, Farmar, Mihmand Vujacic. You can also bring in free agents like Billups, Orberto or Maurice Williams. :)

i dont understand why the wolves would trade KG for those laker players. they could get even bigger talents and higher draft picks when they deal him to other teams.

June 26, 2007  08:09 AM ET

It's the most logical thing to do! They want to get something in return for Garnett before he can opt out from his contract next year. They're afraid that they might not get anyone in return for him, if he does opt out. They also want to unload some big contracts so theycan havesalary cap space so they can sign other players. :)

dealing straight up with the suns and getting marion, a superior player to all the other people offered for him, and phoenix's 2 picks this year and the one the hawks owe them next year makes a lot more sense.

June 26, 2007  08:18 AM ET

The trade between the Lakers and the Wolves make more sense since their owners, Jerry Buss and Glen Taylor, are the ones making sure that this trade pushes through.

June 26, 2007  08:23 AM ET

The Wolves better not trade KG to the lakers...wtf. We dont want their trash. I dont want to see KG go, if anything why arent we trying to acquire a player like Marion for our 7th pick? If he is going to go it better not be to the freggin Lakers they are in our conference and we would be handing them a championship. If you are going to trade KG (which would in many ways be trading the whole twolves hitsory and identity), package those bums Jaric and Hudson.
Im glad I wasted years of my life thinking being patient would eventually get the Wolves a title to see them trade away their past and future for a couple of tool boxes. If this Laker trade goes down, I hope the Target Center is empty for years.

June 26, 2007  08:26 AM ET

Odom is actually ok, how bout we take him and they can have their back court help Hudson and Jaric.

June 26, 2007  08:28 AM ET

very well saod jack...

seems like jerry and glen are pals.. glen is doing jerry a favor in his own expense.

speaking of owners, why does mark cuban still passive about this trade talks?? is he not willing to upgrade his team after a 1st rd. elim.??

June 26, 2007  08:30 AM ET

I like the trade for the most part. KG heard the rumors, and now he wants out. Trading him and hudson or jaric for Bynum, odom, and brown would not be bad, but only if we get their 19th pick. We need that to try and move up a couple spots in the draft to get Harford. Foye, mccants or davis, odom, harford, and bynum would be a pretty good combo for a while. We could then maybe draft taurean green with our second rd pick for some depth.

June 26, 2007  08:34 AM ET

just because their owners are buddies doesn't mean this trade makes more sense from a basketball perspective than delaing with phoenix

June 26, 2007  08:35 AM ET

I would not say i Like it. I dont ever want to lose KG, but think it is inevitable and this is probably the best we will get for him.

June 26, 2007  08:36 AM ET

Those are good suggestions! Ryanpap23! I would like Al Horford to be a Laker. It would be good to go after Rodney Stuckey, Acie Law, Nick Young, Jason Smith, Rudy Fernandez or Cory Brewer in the first round. In the Second Round, it would be wise to go after Marc Gasol,Glen "Big Baby" Davis and Aaron Affalo. :)

June 26, 2007  08:39 AM ET

I've got an idea. Why don't we give every player to the Lakers and they can have their pick and then the rest of the team can grovel for the scraps. Wake up, Kal-El, and use that super-brain of yours: just because a trade works financially doesn't mean it works from a team standpoint. Kwame Brown for Ron Artest, straight up? Wake up, man!

Glen Taylor is just probably being realistic about the situation the Wolves are in. It's better to rebuild now while Garnett still has trade value and they can get get several talented players in return.

the best??? ryanpap23?? is it best when you get kwame brown, bynum, and lamar for a former MVp KG?? hell no!
wolves should skip plan B and proceed to plan C where they trade KG for suns matrix, kurt thomas, james jones and 3 picks (one in 2008 from the hawks). they can get young players from there which they can start to build thier franchise.
