Palmer weighing surgery

Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer hopes to regain almost 100 percent of his throwing strength by next week. And based on the results of his practice sessions under those full-strength conditions, he expects to make a decision on whether he will need surgery to repair his throwing elbow. "There is somewhat of a timeline," Palmer said Thursday. "I don't want to wait too long. Within the next couple weeks, I'll know. I don't want to wait until April, May and miss out on what's going to be going on. Within the next couple weeks, we should know. I'll have another MRI, and we'll check it out." deally, Palmer said, he will be able to throw crisp timing routes to receivers next week. Such practice sessions could be crucial in helping him to decide about surgery, which he would rather avoid.

This is another guy who I think could use a scenery change.

December 20, 2008  09:30 AM ET

the Bengals will need more than just him.

Why in the Sam Hell did he wait this long?

December 20, 2008  10:01 AM ET

non story. surgery has been on the table for most of the season as an option. palmer is just hoping to avoid the surgery if time will heal the elbow instead. he doesn't want to have the surgery if he can avoid it, since the operation can hurt a QB's accuracy.

i still wish palmer would go gillooly on ghiaciuc's knee, he's earned it for causing this injury to palmer. worst bengals center ever.

I have a bad head cold that keeps me from shoveling my driveway. I think I'll wait a couple of days before I decide on an over-the-counter cold remedy.

Welcome to my world, Carson Palmer.

He's soft, that's all. What does he mean he doesn't want to wait too long. This moron has wasted the entire nursing this injury and now that the season is over he declares himself 100 percent. Hey pretty boy, guess how many QB's are playing at 100 percent? Try zero.

I'm waiting for Springtime, baby.

I wouldn't say "zero". There are plenty of 2nd and 3rd stringers who haven't taken a snap all year who, I'm sure are 100%.

But, yeah, most everybody is dinged up by now.

Why has he waited so long, though? Was he waiting to see if the Bengals were able to make a late season playoff push? He should have had whatever he needed done weeks ago so he'd be 100% by the time mini-camps start up.

He might as well.... Cincy is going NO WHERE with him or without him and absolutely NO HELP from OCHO something

December 21, 2008  02:32 AM ET

Go for the surgery and punch a one-way ticket OUT of Cincy.

December 21, 2008  03:23 AM ET

Only on the Bengals does a player who hasn't played all year decide to have surgery for an injury week 15 of the season.

They need to cut his *ss
