Make or break game for Tarvaris Jackson?

Today could make or break a career for Tarvaris Jackson. If the Vikings beat the Atlanta Falcons today at the Metrodome with the third-year quarterback at the controls, it's pretty obvious that Jackson will lead Minnesota into the playoffs and save the team a lot of money it would have to invest in acquiring a starting quarterback for next season. But if Jackson, 25, plays poorly, it will be Gus Frerotte's turn again. And Jackson might not get another start, barring injury, in Minnesota. Ostensibly, today could be a one-game audition for Jackson's future with the Vikings.

By now, shouldn't the Vikes know whether he is a solid NFL
starter or a simply a competant back-up ?

I mean it took NE one game to realize cassel was a good player

Either let the kid play and OPEN UP the offense or put him on
the damn bench for a 75 year old...

I agree that this game today is make or break for Tavaris Jackson. He's been so eratic this season. Some games he looks great while others he's a stiff. Personally, I'm rooting for him to play well so he can become the Vikings starter again.

He is not going to make it in the NFL as a QB and this boy does not have the stuff in his think head to get the job done. This is not some stupid work for the man all day long and kissy kiss to your boss to keep them on your terms. It is on the man's terms. Whether he wants to acknowledge it or not. Dropping passes....or are the reads read wrong. Like a stuttering idiot, who has issues in learning how to speak.....the never think. Aggressive personalities, yes......it is a way of life for these types and even after the changes in the system. The majority realizes this fact and it will always remain because of stoopid antics that are a reflection of the whole. This is an continuing issue that perplexes the NFL QB situations..... So you want a smart QB that can read and follow directions.....or do you wand remedial QB that can run fast andmake basic throws?

I hope Jackson does well. Gus Ferotte is DEFINATELY NOT the answer.

Gus "the land that time" Ferotte? Why not start Bob Lee (for all you 70's Vikings fans:)? This guy is a bust and throws like he's playing a game of cricket at an English pub.

Tarvaris Jackson is one of those QBs, that can play one or two outstanding games that will make you think that he is one of the greatest ever then the next few games he will play so bad it will look like a second grader could outperform him.

December 21, 2008  12:42 PM ET

Jackosn will do for the rest of the seasin and then JDB (john David Booty) will take over next season!

"cricket" the darts game, not the British-Indian baseball/croquet pastime.

Jackson has struggled to read Defenses. This will be a great tell for Min as Atl has a excellent pass Defense. The pressure they can bring, and the different looks they give you, all require a QB to be quick on his feet. I'm not buying what Jackson is selling. I think we has great physical tools, but not that extra something that a NFL QB needs to get to that next level. We'll see I guess, but I have a feeling Min is heading back to the drawing board in the off-season.

I just saw Morten Andersen kick that damn field goal to beat us in 98 .. and cried again - ha ha! Damn announcers that day jinxed our kicker by saying "he hasn't missed one all year" - whenever you hear that before an important kick - look out!

OK

If this one game is make or break, then I think they already have their answer.

Oh but of course. Why didn't everybody just assume that's the cricket you meant?
