AD: Stoops extension 'no brainer'
What a difference a bowl win can do for a program. A happy Jim Livengood said afterward that giving Mike Stoops a contract extension is "a no-brainer." All that will take care of itself," Livengood said about the extension, which also would mean a pay raise for Stoops. "This is a great win. And the players and coaching staff deserve to enjoy it." Livengood celebrated on the field after the Cats' 31-21 win over BYU in the Las Vegas Bowl gave UA an 8-5 record and completed Stoops' five-year rebuilding project. "This is going to be a fun place to be if you want to play football," Livengood said. "This is an outstanding place to play football."

nice to see, alot of people havent had faith in him, its nice to see that he was able to follow through on what he said he was going to do, something that alot of coaches dont do these days....example: chizik promising to stay at ISU then bouncing for Auburn...or Nick Saban's entire coaching career...

I liked Stoops from day 1. He got a bad rap because people thought he could take the crappy leftovers from Malco-**** and do something right away. Sorry but that is impossible. Give Stoops time and he will do good tings and this year was a view of what he is doing. I would love to see AZ and OK play even if OK stomps the cats. I think it would be a fun rivalry for them and the fans. Grats Coach on finally getting the recognition you deserve. Lets go Stoops sweeps!!

OU and ZONA playing a game ends in a scandal during years where OU rides its strong non-conference slate into the BCS... "Mike Stoops handed his brother a game, it's was sooo obvious, Arizona was coached worse than a Texas game is officiated"... Blah Blah blah.

Yeah, it's nice to see a coach take a program with a small recruiting base and turn it into a competitive team. I spent about 10 years in Tucson and know the football team takes a back seat to basketball, but with basketball down Stoops is giving the city something to look forward to again. He's legitimately made the football program better and now we just have to see how high he can take it.
