Angels out of Teixeira chase

The Angels are out of the Mark Teixeira sweepstakes, SI.com has confirmed. "We have withdrawn our offer as of this afternoon," team spokesman Tim Mead said Sunday. The Angels made their contract offer, reportedly for eight years and about $160 million, during the winter meetings in Las Vegas earlier this month. Yahoo! Sports.com was the first to report the Angels' decision. The Red Sox said last week that they "are not going to be a factor" in signing the 28-year-old slugger. The Nationals, Orioles and Yankees are believed to be still in the running for Teixeira's services.

This man is worth much more than them boys and watch for he will get the coin for that reason alone. He is a far superior human and he can do it all. Their is no complaining about life from this holmes.

I hope he signs with the Yankees and gets carpal tunnel syndrome counting his millions and we never see or hear from him again. Really just sick of it all.

That would just be icing on the cake if Kingfisher is actually right.

my god let this be over soon!!!!

Sox are out, Angels are out, Baltimore's too cheap, Nats are a joke and no one would EVER want to play for the Yankees.

Poor boy's gotta retire.

I sure wish Teixeira would just make up his damn mind. This has been going on long enough. I sure hope he makes a decision by Christmas at the latest. Not that I'm losing sleep over it ... I just want to see where he's going to end up!

I'm not losing any sleep over it either, but Teixeira IS holding things up. A lot of teams seem unwilling to make any major moves until they find out where Teixeira is going and how big his contract will be. So that trickles down and effects almost every remaining free agent out there. I'm sure once Teixeira finally does sign, there will be a domino effect and we'll see Manny Ramirez, Brian Fuentes and several other big names out there finally sign somewhere, too. I suspect it's also holding up a few potential trades, too.

Its funny though. Who would have thought 5 years ago, that a guy named Tex would have held up Manny's future? (well, we all know boras is holding it up but hey.. it sounds good..)

He is a decent ball player but a far superior human? Aren't you taking this a bit far. This is a guy that has never finished better than 7th in the mvp voting. Can do it all? All of a sudden I feel better about not signing him.

The Red Sox will have him signed by the end of Tuesday........
