Will Favre, Mangini return in '09??
That it has come to this after an 8-3 start is additional evidence that Brett Favre is simply too old to do it, and that coach Eric Mangini is in over his head and should not be retained if the Jets don't make the playoffs. With a $140-million makeover and a future Hall of Fame quarterback, Mangini thought he had the right group of players to make a meaningful run through the season. And at 8-3, it certainly looked as if that would be the case. Barring a playoff berth and at least two postseason wins, Favre is at the end. Mangini should be, too, especially if at this time next week, the Jets are putting their equipment in black plastic bags and explaining how it all went so horribly wrong. If Mangini doesn't get to the playoffs, the Jets need to show him the door. No excuses. No explanations. He was on board with the Favre decision, and he must pay the price if the collapse is completed next week.

Favre calls his own shots. He does not have to whine and complain to get his way. Only the needy be begging for handouts and this man stands above the boys. Ask anyone.

Favre is probably done. It was a nice run, but they couldn't win on the West Coast to inferior teams this year.

Mangini's no genius. This guy stinks as a coach but they weren't grilling him like they did Crennel.

Where are all those Favre lovers who indicted the Packers for letting Favre go and had the Jets in the Super Bowl and Favre the MVP? *Crickets*
Exactly!
The NFL season is a marathon, not a sprint and while the Packers took a major step backwards this season it can't be blamed on Aaron Rodgers, who's having a better statistical season than Brett Favre. More importantly, which franchise is better equipped for the FUTURE now, Green Bay or the Jets?

Will Farvre return next year? No, he won't.
Yes, he will.
No, he won't.
Yes, he will...
Depends on which week you ask Brett.

What about Favre's passion and his love for the game? What about his "winning attitude" and rocket arm? I guess the Kool-Aid is finally wearing off and people are seeing what Brett Favre has become over the past several years (save last year): an average NFL QB.

Does anyone else watch Farve and the Jets offense and think it looks like Farve is playing with "restraints"...
that last drive with that bullet 30 yard pass to Cotchery or Coles was vintage Farve... I can't help but think alot of their problems are with play-calling...
If I was co-ordinator, I would be calling a COMPLETELY different game than what the Jets are running...
Farve looks like a talented QB who is afraid of ticking off his coaches... Farve is teh King of 15-20 yard slants, in-patterns... throwing into tight spots.... and yet they just have him do these 5 yard dump passes.... brutal

I never in my wildest dreams thought I'd root for the Jets but, they had better play their A game next week and beat the Dolphins.

This has more to do with the lousy play-calling by the Jets' coaching staff and the lousy defense than Brett Favre. Last week, Buffalo sliced & diced the Jets' defense like butter; ironically, the defense won the game, thanks to lousy play-calling by Buffalo & JP Losman. The coaches wanted Brett Favre but refuse to change their game plan to fit his game. Then, when desperate, he heaves interceptions. Laverius Coles complains he's not getting the ball, then drops a 4th-and-2 pass in his hands. Where was the "great" Dustin Keller in yesterday's game? Was Brett not throwing to him or were the plays not called for him? Woody Johnson gave them the tools but the coaches didn't know how to use them.

i am loving it...i am diehard jets fan and diehard favre hater....i made a tough decision to boycot the jets due to the signing of favre....although it is tough to not wake up sunday mornings eagerly waiting to root for the jets, i am ecstatic this morning as I know i can come back and root for the favre-free jets next season.....all you suckers who sold your souls (remember fvre laid down for strahan to break gastineau's record) to sip the brett favre kool aid are now realizing what i knew all along....favre is awful! mangini needs to go to....go out and try to hire Rex Ryan to be the head coach.......and please don't sign matt cassel.....instead give kelly clemens the job

That pretty much sums it up. Too inconsistent. Jets need to start all over at the QB position. Clemens deserves a shot.

As a Jets fan-
all I can say is that we are an EMBARASSMENT.
No reason we lose to 3 of the 10 worst teams in football.
Too much screwing around with trick formations, plays, etc....
just play damn football.
