Jays like Lowe, might trade Rolen

Blue Jays GM J.P. Ricciardi is a big fan of Derek Lowe, but the GM questions whether Lowe would consider Toronto, and if he did, Ricciardi said he'd have to "rob Peter to pay Paul." Ricciardi, who said "there are still a lot of excellent players on the board," might resort to bottom feeding for free agents. If a deal is appealing, Ricciardi might move Scott Rolen or Lyle Overbay. He would have to be blown away by an offer to part with closer B.J. Ryan.

Lowe ?why ?

Are asking why I am calling Lowe a dewchebag or why they are interested in him?

I'll will just assume that you are in agreement with the TRUTH and will then counterpoint the "why sign him" argument.

He is extremely overrated.....inconsistent...and a male ho..........HO HO HO

I WOULD GET EITHEER ONE

December 22, 2008  11:11 AM ET

Sounds good, Jays clear payroll to add payroll. Rolen is useless and Overbay only plays in September. The subtraction of these contracts should be more than enough to pick up Lowe. Gives jays fans a glimmer of hope. One question? Who wants Rolen or Overbay?

December 22, 2008  11:22 AM ET

....is this the contender you wanted to play with Derek? Or is it just the team that will pay you the most? Go back to the Dodgers where the weather is nice and you have all the LA 10 Models with fakies that you cheated on your wife with.

"Are asking why I am calling Lowe a dewchebag or why they are interested in him? "

the latter...sarcasticly
but now I'd like to know your dewsh story.

The TRUTH is that you don't know crap. Only idiots refer to themselves in the third person even if it is a screenname.

You can't get much worse than the trade for Rolen. Might as well get rid of him now and hope that people don't remember.

December 22, 2008  01:20 PM ET

So because Lowe cheated on his wife, he's overrated as a pitcher? Some of you guys just aren't intelligent baseball fans.

Go read something, get yer learn on.

No... but it is one of the reasons he is a dewchebag. Overall prick and bad teammate.

I think the Yanks would be interested in Overbay if Tex goes to Boston. However, they would likely deal for him using only 2nd-tier prospects.

Overbay isn't spectacular at all, but is an offensive upgrade over Swisher, can hit .280 - .290 and hit 20 HRs in HR-friendly Yankee Stadium.

December 22, 2008  03:21 PM ET

I didn't even know Scott Rolen playted for Toronto. And what's a Lyle Overbay?

December 22, 2008  06:28 PM ET

Lowe is more reliable than AJ Burnett, but he won't get Burnett money. Toronto doesn't appear to be a contender though. But I think Lowe will end up being a bargain for whichever team gets him.

December 22, 2008  08:19 PM ET

Better Idea! Fire JP Ricciardi right now **** it!

December 22, 2008  08:52 PM ET

Unfortunately, Scott Rolen just doesn't have the same explosiveness he once had. He was a great 3rd baseman.

December 22, 2008  09:33 PM ET

Why would the Jays go through so much trouble to get Lowe. He is good, but the part they really need help with is their offense. Stop with pitching, and get some clutch guys on the plate.

I hate seeing what happened to Scott Rolen after the Hee Seop Choi collision. He's never been the same. What a claim to fame for Hee Seop Choi. The only thing notable was to take part in derailing a likely HOF career.
