For the second straight game, Arizona faced a quality college basketball coach who could be considered a candidate for Arizona's opening. Last week, Gonzaga's Mark Few said he doesn't discuss potential jobs. This week, UNLV's Lon Kruger said he's not interested in replacing interim head coach Russ Pennell. "Barb (his wife) and I love it in Las Vegas," Kruger said in a telephone interview. "We love the situation here, and the people are great. . . . We love what we're doing in Vegas." Kruger praised Pennell.

Tough choice... live in Vegas or AZ?

December 22, 2008  08:56 AM ET

Kruger would be a solid choice...

I would rather blaze my own trail in Vegas... Than try and follow in Olson's... Kruger is a damn good coach.... Hopefully he stays at UNLV

"I would rather blaze my own trail in Vegas... "

there is no 'own trail' in vegas...
you'll always be compared to the shark.

I was talking about a clean trail... Kruger can stand alone there

kruger is a good coach and i believe he is a stand up guy, unless he pulls a "chizik" or "nick saban" and says he wants to stay at UNLV and then dips for UA immediatley after.

I think Kruger is a standup guy, as well. I hated to see him leave Illinois when he did......and I bet he is being honest saying that he doesn't want to leave Vegas.

No way in hell does Kruger leave Vegas for 'Zona. He's building a solid program here. He's bringing in some good players. And, he is the most popular guy in the city, even more than Oscar Goodman.

Kruger doesn't stay anywhere for long. He left a good position and security at Illinois for the "win immediately or get fired" NBA. He has been at at least one more college since then before UNLV. I wish him well. He did a good job at Illinois and left the program in good shape. I do believe he is honest and has integrity. He just doesn't let the grass grow under his feet, sort of a Larry Brown type.

We dont want Kruger anyway. It's mutual

Prediction: It will be Tubby Smith.
