Plaxico gets sued

The legal troubles of Giants' star Plaxico Burress continued to mount Monday when a Florida woman sued him, claiming she was injured when he slammed into her car. Alise Smith, 27, of Miami said she suffered neck and back injuries in May when a tailgating Burress rear-ended her 1997 Ford Probe with his $140,000 Mercedes-Benz. Compounding Burress' problems was that he failed to make his insurance payments and his Allstate coverage was terminated three days before the crash. "She's got a couple of herniated discs, which she's still being treated for," Smith's attorney, Adam Dougherty said Monday, adding that his client's medical bills have surpassed $16,000.

There is no excuse for these people to be acting in this way. No excuse at all. It's in their upbringing. Both parties have these deficiencies in their systems that have been driven by genetics. Plaxico is not a bad guy he's just doing what his parents taught him to react in live. As if he is standing in a line. He should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the insurance peoples.

ummmmm no that's just plumb dumb not to have insurance....I make a fraction of what he makes and I seem to get my insurance paid every month...it's not like he can't do an automatic payment or online web pay...

not really....he was always this way, but once the initial incident happened, he is now on the radar and every little thing he does will come to light....no more sweeping things under the rug....

This happened back in May. So it's not only every little thing he does. It's every little thing he DID.

But I agree with your point. Giants don't need to cut him.....whoa, lost my train of thought. That is one helluv an avatar for Pimpy MerryXmASS. WOW>>>>>>>>>

Driving a $140,000 Mercedes, yet not paying your insurance premiums. Plax, at least you are not totally useless. You set a great bad example for others.

December 23, 2008  08:21 AM ET

I think some Cowboy fan has a voodoo doll of Burress and is sticking pins in it. Will ya stop already......Jeesh.

Agreed. It just doesn't make any sense. The risk and the personal liability he puts himself under for not having insurance is just insane. If he is too stupid to realize it, I think his wife should know better, as she is an attorney.
