Jet lag slows Paterno

A month after hip replacement surgery, Penn State Coach Joe Paterno wasn't sure if he would be coaching from the sideline when the Nittany Lions play USC in the Rose Bowl on New Year's Day. "We'll see how it goes this week," he told reporters Tuesday before practice at the Home Depot Center. "I haven't done enough on it yet. That jet lag got me the first day and then I did better yesterday. I think I'm OK, I'm trying."

That is the oldest thing I've ever heard.

Devlin isn't even going to be part of the team for the Rose Bowl. If Clark gets hurt during the game, PSU is screwed. Not that it will matter because I think USC is going to shoot, skin and mount a Lion on the first.

Hey Joe, try a nap for that jetlag. Remember being old, old, really old your just like a small child, you need your nap time.

I think it is about time to turn that old horse out to pasture. Give it up, Joe. Retire for God's sake. Let someone else rule for a change.

Why is this a story when Notre Dame is going for their 16th annual post-season dissapointment tonite!?!

December 24, 2008  03:04 PM ET

So what if Paterno is old. Who is PSU going to hire who is a better coach? Oh yeah, that's right Joe Pa happens to be the best college coach ever. That said USC is still going to win by over 30 points.

Your comment doesn't belong because this is a Penn State story. That was really stupid of you to post it.

I think you people out there critsizing JoePa should take a few minutes and check his regu;ar season record and his bowl record. Check and see how many Heisman winners they have shut down in bowl games including Herschel Walker, Marcus Allen and Vinne Testaverdie. Check out how many times they have won when they were not favored. JoePa prepares very well for bowl games and USC better bring theit BEST game on January 1. There is no other coach out there that has done more for college football than JoePa. Check his graduation rate. JoePa has earned the right to coach as long as he wants. And I will be in the stands every home game cheering him and the team on. WE ARE...PENN STATE!!

With 4 weeks to prepare, nobody in the bottom tier of the WAC is safe from Notre Dame's wrath.

Just imagine if they had 5 weeks and TE Will Yeatmen who got thrown off the team.
