Last night a baseball source indicated MetsGM Omar Minaya is having discussions with Scott Boras about the top starting pitcher remaining on the free-agent market, Derek Lowe. The source said, however, that no offer has been extended to Lowe, a 35-year-old right-hander who spent the last four seasons with the Dodgers.

The baseball source is probably dooshbag Boras. Let's have a discussion without extending an offer. Huh?

Wait a second here. You mean that we won't be treated to more stories about Jake Peavy!!! Oh, the humanity!!!

Good, let them add another aging has-been to their staff...makes it easier for the Phils.

I mean really, dude ..
The Phils rocked him in the playoffs.

He would be the # 3 or 4 starter.
It would be a solid move for the mets to bring him in
for 3 years- He's not the best pitcher in the world, but he'll
give them some innings

Outside of Martinez, I don't remember many or any games the Mets starters got rocked by the phillies. The bullpen, is another story. Take the title and be happy with it but don't paint it as if the Mets starting rotation sucked because then you're not being honest.

I mis-spoke. I should have said team, not staff. And who the hell cares if the Phils didn't play the mets good, we played everyone else good and won the World Series, so f them and their stupid city. A true baseball fan knows that adding Lowe isn't going to do anything for them. They are still heartless losers who choke their leads away. Enjoy 3rd place next year.

When did Lowe become CC Sabthia. He is an ok player, but he makes them older...aren't they already old enough.

Any heart he had will be ripped out and sent home because they don't play with heart on that team.

Its hysterical how even with winning a title you guys are still hard up on the Mets. Don't worry about them. Its obvious they choked and you got nothing to worry about right? IF thats the case, then you're just being paranoid. Its always funny how people who arent in NY can't even enjoy their own success because they're so focused on "we're good and relevant too!". Like I said, congrats on the deserved title. You might want to enjoy that a bit more.

Like Jimmy Rollins heart? And if I were you, I would avoid commenting on the Mets choking. By definition, the Mets choking just means they gave you the division. If the Phils earned it, then the Mets didnt choke, they lost to a better team. I'm giving you a lifeline here. take it.

The mets choked and we won our games late. Did we need them to win, yes. BUT, we also had to do our part. In 2007, we 16-6 in september. Without that run, their choking doesn't matter. That "handed us the division" argument is the worst argument a mets fan can give. We still had to win those games when it mattered.

And how does Jimmy not have heart?

Seeings that the Mets and Phils didn't each other the last 3 weeks of the season I would disagree. The Phils were the better team but the Mets also choked away another opportunity.

Funny listening the mets fans grasping at straws.

I agree with you usually but your contradicting yourself. I'm not one of these rosy scenario Mets fans. From my perspective, we choked...absolutely. But if I were a Phillies fan, choke wouldnt be something I'd use to describe it. All that does is minimize the title. Like I said, you guys won. Congrats and enjoy it.

I can't comprehend how you guys would keep saying a team choked and "we" won. I'll be honest,... If the Mets were 14 games back with 3 games left and the hand of God came down , forced the miracle to end all miracles and made the Phils lose a lead,...I'd never say they choked. I'd be bragging that we were better. YOU WON. YOU HAD THE BETTER TEAM.

I say the Mets choked because as a fan I see the team blew it.

Put it this way.... it pains me to say it but any argument ends by saying the Phils won the Series.
