The Red Bulls' injury-plagued defense has been struggling, so coach Bruce Arena shook up his backline yesterday by trading left back Todd Dunivant to Toronto for defender Kevin Goldwaite. Goldwaite makes $31,000 to Dunivant's $95,000, and the money saved could go to acquiring yet another defender, like World Cup vet Tony Sanneh or ex-MetroStar Chris Leitch.

I like this move alot, Tony Sanneh would be a great edition.

And not too far in the future will the Red Bulls be getting Clarence Seedorf (fingers crossed)

It's soccer, who cares!!!

I feel sorry for all these players getting traded out of toronto. It's not easy to go from playing in front of 18,000 screaming fans to hearing a pin drop.

This move must be strategic he already had someone in mind to replace Dunivant who plays for the US national team who also has taken a dip in form this season

Marvell Wynn is the best defender Toronto has

The Red Bulls team chemistry isn't very good, mostly because all their stars haven't played together enough. Schopp and Reyna were injured, Angel missed a good amount of games in the beginning, Mathis was suspended for a couple, Waterrus and Freeman were injured, and Altidore, Kovalenko, and Richards were the only ones to play basically every game. While they wait for the chemistry to set in, they need to strengthen their defense to stop all the counterattacks and embarassing give aways from becoming goals. Sanneh could be the man.

That's strange b/c BA picked Dunivant for a few MNT matches. Goldwaite is an average player/support but I guess he fits into their defensive scheme.

TonRH, what a lame hit-n-run that was. You cared by taking time out to make a posting.

GET ONYEWU, PERSUADE HIM HE IS TALL AND ON THE NATIONAL TEAM HE IS GREAT I don't even know the tony guy and i know a little bit about the ex-metrostar but everyone knows onyewu and if we are trying to get people in the stands we should get onyewu or the ex-metrostar.

Onyewu should stay in Europe so he can get better. He has the ability to become the US best ever defender. If he goes to MLS while hes nearing his prime, he isn't going to get better.

but if no one wants him in europe he mite as well come to america.
