Sammy Sosa has not ruled out playing for a Major League team in 2009, according to a report in the Dominican newspaper Listin Diario. The 40-year-old last played in the big leagues in 2007, when he hit 21 homers and drove in 92 runs for the Rangers. "I still don't have an offer, and I shouldn't be looking for offers out there," Sosa was quoted in the story as saying. "Any team who wants to sign me should have the initiative and make an offer." Sosa, who is just the fifth player in baseball history to collect 600 homers, said he is in good shape.

Whaaaa

Whaaaa

Your head may not be as big as Barry Bonds, but your ego certainly is. Perhaps no one wants you on their team.

21 homers and 90+ rbi's is not that terribly difficult to come up with in MLB today.

Seriously. Those Rosetta Stone programs that Michael Phelps has been pushing must really work wonders. Sosa has not only learned but mastered the English language in just 2 short years.

Plus who wants a player who is one sneeze away from throwing out his back and missing a month of the season?

The Red Sox could use a big strong guy to clean the latrines at Fenway.

The last time this guy peed in a cup , it burst in to flames.

Latrines at Fenway? You mean the Green Monster? At least that is where Manny used to disappear to take a leak between innings.

WWE likes steroid users. Bonds, Canseco, McGwire, Clemens, Sosa, et al could all find jobs there. Just think of a grudge match between some of these guys, it could be entertaining!

December 26, 2008  11:00 AM ET

The Cubs need a right fielder and Sosa needs a job. connect the dots...

December 26, 2008  11:03 AM ET

pass on him too old

December 26, 2008  11:07 AM ET

Who does he think he is? Doesn't he know that you have to play for the Newark Bears before returning to the bigs?

Dude...that's hilarious.

"Any team who wants me, should take the initiative, and do so expeditiously. I believe I still retain the dexterity and hitting-prowess to vastly ameliorate any team's lineup who is fortuitous enough to sign me.....
Oh and I almost forgot...
"Baseball been bery, bery good to me."

They do not want him back. The Cubs and their fans have good memories for the msot part of Sosa. Would be a shame for him to come back and tarnish all that.

Please, Sammy, don't go away mad. Just go away. Forever.

DIRTBAG CHEATER... GO AWAY LOSER

December 26, 2008  12:48 PM ET

He'd have to be a DH somewhere. His 2007 stats where'nt phenomenol, but he didn't have a ton of at bats, either. A team would really be gambling to pick him up, though. I'd rather save him in the Tigers lineup than Schefield, though, to be honest.

December 26, 2008  12:52 PM ET

*see him*, not 'save' him. Don't know where that came from.
