According to the numbers that come in to Nielsen Media Research, which measures what people are watching on television, the Dallas Cowboys are still America's Team. Really. "I'm not surprised," said Tom Ziangas, senior vice president for sport at Nielsen. "No. 1, the Cowboys are still very competitive on the field. No. 2, it's always a soap opera. "I'm not a big Cowboys fan, but I do understand the Cowboy phenomenon. There's been the mystique of Gil Brandt, Tom Landry, now a flamboyant owner, Jerry Jones, a line of coaches who are personalities. The numbers don't lie. People love it." For example, the Sept. 15 "Monday Night Football" game on ESPN in which Dallas beat Philadelphia, 41-37, had 18.6 million viewers, the most ever for a cable program. "The NFL may be the best-marketed professional sports league there is," Ziangas said, "and the Cowboys are one of the best-marketed teams there is. It's a pretty potent combination."

I bet they won the vote because people are forced to watch them or no football every freaking Thanksgiving. I guess the Detroit Lions came in 2nd in the rankings.

I wouldn't watch them unless: A)They are playing the Steelers, or, B)A gun is being held to my head.

Maybe the Cowboys are the most watched team because they're shoved down our throats so much? They're always in the showcase games, where they're the only game playing. Not to mention the media constantly hyping their mediocre teams, making them super bowl picks, only to have them choke.

Remember when they first started advertising NFL Network? You were going to be able to watch the game you wanted to watch no matter where you lived. What ever happened to that?

Jerry Jones is involved in the TV contract negotiations, that's what happened.

I am loving watching the Cowboys go down in flames. The cowboys were one of the teams I rooted for as a kid. They were a class organization then, with Staubach and Golden Richards and Tom Landry coaching. Skeletor has ruined the brand as far I'm concerned.

Ok Lady Cat, I need your help. Ready, on three. One, two, three.......GO JETS!

Come on, you can do it. LOL

On the other hand, they are the least watched team after the first round of playoffs.

Check my comment on the Brett thread. lol

Dallas is the most watched team because they are the team that gets the national network feed rather than just the regional feed. The drama of them winning early and then Romo gets hurt. I guess we just can't turn our heads when we see a train wreck coming.

That's close, but..........
I hate the Jets as much as any intelligent, rational football fan should. This week however, I am going to act like an uneducated moron with no reason to live. This will make it easier to say: GO JETS!!
