Surprising no one, Pistons point guard Chauncey Billups officially opted out of the final year of his contract Monday, giving him unrestricted free agent status starting Sunday. His list of potential suitors includes the Bucks, the Magic and the Grizzlies. But the Bucks have their own free agent point guard in Maurice Williams, and he would come at a cheaper sticker price.

Memo to Les Alexander....WE NEED CHAUNCEY BILLUPS!!!

June 26, 2007  09:54 AM ET

Kings need to trade Mike Bibby and pick up Billups. If they do that and draft Yi, they'll be two big steps closer to being a playoff team again.

COME TO THE LAKERS BABY!

KOBE - KG - BILLUPS....Look out NBA!

June 26, 2007  10:05 AM ET

it will be better if he goes to Seattle

Starting-5 #1:
C Oden
PF Wilcox
SF Lewis
SG Allen
PG Billups

Starting-5 #2:
C Wilcox
PF Lewis
SF Durant
SG Allen
PG Billups

It will look good on paper, but in reality ...

June 26, 2007  10:15 AM ET

chauncy is overrated

June 26, 2007  10:23 AM ET

Is he? Why would they have given him the finals MVP titel then? The Pistons are nothing and nowhere without him

June 26, 2007  10:48 AM ET

billups is the classic example of a player who will get a five year deal and be a salary cap burden for the last three as his body breaks down.

June 26, 2007  10:56 AM ET

to the cavs chauncey...

June 26, 2007  11:03 AM ET

brocaw is 100% correct

June 26, 2007  11:04 AM ET

i would never want the sixers to sign him....u should only sign him if u are positive u are one solid playoff pg away

June 26, 2007  11:09 AM ET

The rockets should have went after Billups...Not Mike James..All the rockets would have to do is get a powerforward who can score on the lowpost and shoot from 15 to 18 foot jump shoots to spread the floor for Yao and Tmac..And they would have been a true championship contender next year..

June 26, 2007  11:11 AM ET

Too expensive for L.A. The triangle doesn't need a star to run it just a good player with the ball.If we don't get Garnett (we'll see)then maybe go for him.

June 26, 2007  11:27 AM ET

I agree, LAKERS should look into Billups...
Detroit is not a force anymore, and even if the PISTONS go to the FINALS, they will keep losing to the Western Conference.
KOBE, KG, BILLUPS!!! HOW MANY TITLES...at least 3 more baby!!!

June 26, 2007  11:46 AM ET

Chauncey should ONLY sign with the Lakers if they make this trade

PHX trades marion, barbosa, and banks and receives Kobe and Vlad

Minn trades KG, Hudson, and McCants and receives bynum, odom, banks, barbosa, and picks

LA trades kobe, Odom, Vlad, Bynum and receives KG, Marion, Hudson, and McCants

then LA signs Chauncey

June 26, 2007  12:09 PM ET

thats right overrated...he's a hot dog, streak shooter that couldnt carry his team offensively against the cav's...even tony parker was more effective than him...he's too expensive...I also agree with brocaw....the lakers just need a good ball handler who can shoot....and one who's not allergic to defense

June 26, 2007  12:16 PM ET

theres also talks of atlanta exploring a sign and trade with detroit for billups....maybe claxton, chldress and 11

June 26, 2007  12:19 PM ET

The Lakers need him more than anyone hopefully after that get KG they can set their sight on chauncey

June 26, 2007  12:29 PM ET

If Denver get some salary cap space they could sign Billups and become contenders in the west.

June 26, 2007  12:33 PM ET

why oh why are you Laker fans so fricking stupid? your team sucks, its ran by a primadonna... so quit talking all the mess about getting players your team cant afford.

i think he will be with the Bucks..although I would love to see him if the Rockets could ever land him.

cookiejar: I agree and I'm a laker fan.We do not have unlimited funds. We might ba able to get one or the other but we do not have enough money or players to think we will get K.G. and then go out and get billups.I don't see the management being able to pull that out. What makes you other laker fans think that our management has somehow over night become non-braindead.Isn't mitch still there? He is an idiot 100%.He will blow it somehow, just loke he has with everything else he has touched.I would love for it to happen but,No way will it.
