They had this year, they'll have next year and maybe 2010, but after that it'll be business as usual and Michigan will once again be a top ten team: Michigan won't settle for "Chuckie" mediocrity like ND apparently is willing to do.

mich.st. looked better this year, but im guessing that rich-rod gets the blue and maize back on its feet no later than the 2010 season. enjoy it while it lasts.

i gotta agree with utleys and smartman here...hopefully it will make for an intense rivalry between two top tier programs which college football hasnt had for awhile outside of Texas-Oklahoma. I hope they both become powerhouse skills

I'm still not sold on Dantonio. When you have experience at key skill positions (Ringer, Hoyer) you're supposed to win. He didn't accomplish much at Cincinnati, where his teams went 18-17 before he came to MSU.

Or ... maybe Dantonio's a great coach ... and I'm still bitter that MSU didn't hire Steve Marrucci when they had the chance.

I think that Dantonio is the man because he only lost 3 games with a bunch of scrubs. He is the first coach for MSU in a long time that got his kids to behave off of the feild(except the recent brawl with the hockey team, but hey...you cant win them all).
Just wait till he matures his '09 class which has alot of talent on it...im worried as a UM fan. Hoyer sucks, wait till you get the kid from oklahoma throwing dimes next year or true freshman andrew maxwell...they are gonna be good.
I dont think Mooch was the answer for you guys...pro coaching is way different from college coaching...the players are kids and need to be developed which is what Dantonio seems to be best at.

I agree with you annarbortreecity. Dantonio is the real deal. The Cincinnati team that's going to the Orange Bowl are his guys. Until you get rid of Rodriguez, you should be worried as a Michigan fan.

He's a good coach and with him MSU should be able to compete with anyone in the nation but he's still not gonna win a game against Tressel.

He won with John L's players. Ringer got all those carries because there really wasn;t any one else to pick up the slack. Hoyer was a so-so senior who didn;t make mistakes but didn't really inspire anyone either.

Michigan unforunately is a sorry excuse for a program to compare yourself too. They have been mediocre at best for the past 60 years, only winning half a national championship since than. Look at Ohio State they have won 6 national championships and are on a great track with Tressel. Michigan State is trying to model themselves after Ohio State not Michigan because they actually want to win national championships....Dantonio is the right guy to get Michigan State there

It seems that Coach Dantonio is capitalizing on his opportunities to bring in the upper echelon players, in the face of the Univeristy of Michigan's down year in football. Only time will tell if he can coach his own recruits in the next two years to a big ten title and hopefully more.

From what I've seen so far, Coach Dantonio is a class act. Go Green!!!
