McNabb's last game in Philly?

Donovan McNabb could very well be playing his last game as Eagles today. There are several reasons McNabb's time could be up here: his current contract, his desire for a new one, the presence of Kevin Kolb, Andy Reid's own desire to try his offense with a different quarterback running it. Mostly there is the simple truth that time passes and things change, in life and in the NFL.

I don't understand why - for even a minute - that McNabb would want to stay in Philly.... he knows there would be a spot for him in Chicago where he would be instant hero status in his home town...

I just hope, if it is, he doesn't go out on a high note today. LOL! (followed by a real weak, "Go cowboys!")

Wasn't there a topic with the same title week 17 last year?

December 28, 2008  09:04 AM ET

If McNabb had even a decent receiving corp other than the one
TO year and if he had any semblence of a running game......
- he would've been one of best -
it is actually remarkable the success he had with GARBAGE
all these years (other than westbrook of course)

As long as Kolb is the only other QB alternative, then McNabb is not going anywhere. If they sign a QB in FA, then he is gone, but not before..He is signed through 2009....

December 28, 2008  09:13 AM ET

This suprises him how, he was booed when they drafted him over the stoner from U.T.

December 28, 2008  09:28 AM ET

There is a plane in Philly waiting to take him to O'hare airport in Chicago...we'll be waiting should Philly do ANOTHER dumb thing with a great athelete...

December 28, 2008  09:37 AM ET

I doubt he's done but I must admit I wouldn't mind him being out of the NFC East! Hope they win today though, lol

December 28, 2008  09:45 AM ET

Regardless of what happens I'm sure McNabb will blame everyone but himself. That said, please, please beat the Cowboys today. The whining out of Dallas would be historic.....and hilarious.

Regardless of what you think of McNabb, there comes a time when there needs to be a divorce. I could go on and on regarding the shortcomings of McNabb and why the offense isn't as effective with him behind center. And by effective, I mean consistent. People love to blame the receivers or lack of a running game, but truth be told, the onus falls on McNabb because he cannot sustain drives due to his inaccuracy and, now, lack of willingness to scramble. The Redskins game was a perfect example of this. Man to man all game with a spy on Westbrook. Just daring McNabb to beat them in some way, be it with his legs or accurate passes, and he could not, or he would not. Man to man without a spy on a scrambling qb is so full of holes, it's not funny. He doesn't want to take a hit any longer when scrambling, most likely due to his fragility.

So, what I'm trying to say is, you can replace a broken qb or you can replace a broken coaching staff. Replacing one to try to solve a problem is more logical than replacing an entire coaching staff and learning a new offense. McNabb might be more effective in Chicago or Minnyhaha, but I just don't see how considering the 2004 Eagles were far superior to any team Chicago has rolled out since '86 and any team Minny has rolled out since Cunningham/Moss, and McNabb still choked away the Superbowl.

i'm a cowboy fan. but i couldnt imagine philly giving up mcnabb. he is a top 5 qb and he's always had the bottom 5 receivers. philly would be doing us a huge favor dropping mcnabb. find higher quality receivers and and a good back up running back and your luck will change. i'm not availabe for the philly gm job though.

December 28, 2008  11:38 AM ET

if anyone is gone in philly its gonna be reid, but i honeslty see them both returning next yr. theres no way the eagles will let kolb take the reins of that team

December 28, 2008  11:39 AM ET

Lots of teams are looking into Mcnabb (Bears and Vikings both could use a Q) but anything could happen

December 28, 2008  12:36 PM ET

Same ol' same ol'...The Iggles would be cutting their own wrists by letting McNabb go.

December 28, 2008  12:41 PM ET

McNabb would look very good in Purple!

Go Vikings!

December 28, 2008  12:44 PM ET

Hopefully it's his last game of the season. Go Cowboys..
