Scott Pioli, the New England Patriots Vice President of Player Personnel, is believed to be very interested in the Browns general manager job and is expected to interview for the position soon, multiple league sources told The Plain Dealer today. The Browns have been granted permission by the Patriots to interview Pioli and could talk to him as soon as Tuesday. Pioli has also been contacted by either the Kansas City Chiefs or Detroit Lions and will interview for that job as well, a source said.

......................(sigh)

Brownies 2.0 should finally, perhaps, possibility, maybe.. move out of the AFC North cellar next season and take over 3rd place..

*sigh... say it aint so...........

Still need a decent coach to put his players into motion. I am hoping he is just listening, not seriously considering.....

To think Lions probably could have had him... but Ford always knows better....

The Pats "dynasty" is showing cracks. Take heart, Pats fans. You still have the Celtics.

December 30, 2008  08:32 AM ET

why go there? the Patriots with their 'cracks' are 100 times better than the Brownies are with their 'potholes'. Pioli should just stay where he is.

Maybe he wants a new challenge?

Or to solidify his legacy. There will always be questions about him in NE. Bascially because he has BB. If he goes anywhere, it won't be about the money. It will be about trying to show people that he was just as, if not more so integral in the Pats success as BB was.

What a picture...why is he smiling so much....Not sure I'd want either
of the three jobs (Lions/Browns/Jets), but then again maybe he does
know Pat's are done.....the so called dynasty is over...........

How EXACTLY are they showing cracks? 29-6 over the last two seasons? Shall I go back further for you? Have some facts.

And we also have the Bruins (#1 in the NHL) and the Sox 2 runs away from back-to-back WS appearances. 2 WS championships in the last 4 years. Celts are NBA Champs.

Don't tell us to take heart. We don't need to. Your a Cowboys fans. If you want to see a fan who needs to take heart then look in the mirror. Your team is a Disaster w/a capital "D".

He won't be smiling so much next year if he takes one of those jobs.

Doesn't the NY Post quote "Sources" a lot? Like the same "Sources" that said that Matts Sundin was going to sign with the Rangers? Plus I didn't know the Cleveland Plain Dealer had so many League Sources... in fact I didn't know the paper even existed.

I like how a team can go 11-5 and people say that the team is done...

Duke,

It all depends on Brady's knee if the can't come back they are screwed. No way they franchise Cassel, tooo expensive. The Pats will be tough next year but alot of their stars are at the end of their careers, especially on D.

The reason Pioli is smiling he is about to get P A I D !!!!! Regardless of the where he goes.

I like you. You actaully give reasoning to why Pioli may leave instead of saying that he's gone. I agree with your points but I just don't see him really going anywhere and just because some news paper says that he is interested is a joke. I think that Kraft will probably do as much as he can to make him stay.

Wishful thinking; Bill B. and the Krafts will continue to win, and Pioli isn't gone yet, and if he does go he is leaving a great staff in place to keep the momentum going.
The Pats will be stronger next year, and may win it all again.

If Pioli gets the big money, and maybe a piece of the ownership, to go to Cleveland then more power to him--he's earned the opportunity to try to revive a dead franchise.
He's been a great contributor to the Pats, but lets not forget their are a few others who contributed as well, and will still be there. He will be missed, but someone else will step up and they will continue their success. As long as the Krafts own the Pats and keep Bill B. there is nothing to get too concerned about. Someday Bill will get tired of the grind, and that's when I will begin to worry, unless he pulls a Parcells in Miami, takes the GM position and finds his own successor as Coach.
Who knows?
