Source: Vikings sticking with Jackson in '09
Forget Matt Cassel, Donovan McNabb, Tim Tebow and other possibilities. The Vikings have settled on their quarterback for the future. A little birdie says Tarvaris Jackson, who will start his first playoff game Sunday against the Eagles at the Metrodome, also will be the Vikings' starting QB when training camp opens in 2009.

He earned it towards the end of the season... I guess all he needed was a little benching to get them skills back up... Not to mention league leading rusher Adrianne Peterson...

The young QB can get better. The old QB, teams know his game won't change. If it does not work out, back to the draft.

It just means that they have faith in John David Booty if Jackson fails.

Jackson is a very capable QB he just needs time and the proper support. He's from my hometown and for years i have seen what an incredible athlete he has grown to be. He'll be fine

a reliable source tells me that a another popular #7 currently in jail thinks he has a legit shot at going to Minny. assuming the league lets him play in 09'. i'll believe it when i see it.

They may consider the FA option once they see what the Eagles defense does to him in the play off game...If he responds well, fine, if not, then you know you are taking one big chance to put it on him as your QB next year. There will be some suspended stars on defense next year for the first four games, they will need an offense that can score to overcome that...

wait until he has 1 bad game. all the second guessing about why the vikes didn't make a move will start again. and if the vikes don't make a move and fail to make the playoffs next season, coach walrus is out of work.

I had him as good as gone this year, but he lucked out . That division was not very good. For selfish reasons I hope the Vikings win this week end, but they are not much of a team. I suspect the Eagles will destroy that offense.

Tarvaris Jackson's inexperience has Jim Johnson salivating. He'll be a non-factor.
This game is going to come down to two factors:
1. Adrian Peterson vs the Eagles D
2. Which side of Donovan McNabb's bipolar personality decides to show up.

This is horrible news for Vikings fans. We would be dominate with someone like Cassel at QB with our defense and running game. How can EVERYONE but the coach not see that Jackson is not the answer !!!

Since taking over Jackson Has been superior to Cassel in every category except touchdown passes. Since taking over, Jackson has been 2nd to none other than Peyton Manning statistically. 8td - 1int. 65%comp. What more would like to see from him. It is a dramatic improvement, I don't understand why everyone is down on the man. There is a big upside to this guy. Plus, Tjack knows this system inside and out, as Cassel knows his. Do I need to point out that the Minnesota Vikings offensive scheme is not the New England Patriots Scheme, and that we don't have Welker, Moss, Bellichek. A bunch of red flags to consider when signing an expensive Matt Cassel who played great...in that system.

That's what I say! Let's give him a chance. If you are a true Vikes fan, like me, then do yourself a favor a help yourself to this advice...TJack has never had significant time to spend on the bench behind a savvy veteran QB. As a result, you have a young man attempting to learn the nuances of the game on the field. There are 2 ways to develop a QB: 1)The Aaron Rodgers Method - sit them on the bench for 4 yrs so they can soak it all in and learn the nuances from the comfort of the pine (and in Rodgers/Cassel case some pretty good tuteledge)...2)The TJack method - Throw them to the wolves and hope for the best. It's pretty clear which seems to be the best method, BUT Jackson has shown some big time improvement and as true fans of the Vikings (or anybody in this position for that matter) we need to take a deep breath and embrace two things: the improved play from our QB, and the fact that there will be some bumps in the road as he learns this game. We'll never know unless we give him some more time...look at Eli.

MISTAKE! their going to end up ruining the greatest running back in the game right nows career, he's going to end up hurt because teams are going to continue to load the box and take shots at him......
