As a USC fan, I cannot be more disgusted with the LA Times and UCLA at the moment, while the Trojans "prepare" for Penn State. There have been a million distractions for the Trojans leading up to Jan. 1 and this is the latest. If I were a Penn State fan, I would be enjoying this all right now. Which is team is focused for USC and which team is dealing with coaches on their way out trying to others with them, injuries to starters, academic issues, and now **** UCLA coaches and **** newspaper reporters taking attention away from a determined, under-rated Penn State squad?

The only recruits that could be considering going to UCLA over USC are the most retarded one's in all of high school. I really would like to go back and do a "where are they now" retrospective on the kids that went to UCLA over USC because they wanted to build the program at UCLA or have a bigger impact in a smaller pond, the only problem is everyone already knows those kids became nothing, so it's kind of anti-climactic.

A distraction for USC? If it is, it is their or fault. Ken Norton was the one who talked to the media about it. He could have easily handled this in house and not ran to the press. Alongside that, if the Trojans are so easily distracted by something that is sad by Slick Rick then they probably do not deserve to win.

Why would anyone want to go play for Neuheisel? What parent would want their kid to play for Neuheisel? Maybe if you want your kid to grow up and be a weasel like Rick! Neuheisel may be skilled at "stoking the rivalry" and getting under people's skin, but his talents end there. He's half the man that Pete Carrol is and any recruit who willingly chooses UCLA over USC is a fool.

Norton is the one that lashed out to the media with his accusation instead of handling it privately with Neuheisel (who is a friend of his by the way). Pete Carroll is the one who TOLD Norton to go to the press with it. Blame Petey for your big distraction.

Who would tell recruits a lie like that when it would be so easy to disprove by going right to Norton (who is USC's primary L.A. area recruiter)? So far, two USC recruits have been asked about this and neither one of them said they ever heard that from a UCLA coach.

I've never tutored mentally handicapped students before, and trying to help a Bruin comprehend a Sports article is nowhere to start, but I'll give it a shot.

In the article you posted and suggested we read to clarify this situation, Pete Carroll stated that Recruits told Ken Norton Jr. that they were being told by UCLA recruiters that Norton would be leaving USC and joining UCLA if DuhWayin Walker accepted a better job with New Mexico St. What does Ken Norton or USC have to gain by making this up? Obviously Norton told recruits who asked him about it that it was untrue, but how can you cut off these kinds of dirty tricks by UCLA? Not by staying quiet and letting it continue. Obviously you go public. USC has beat UCLA 9 of the last 10 years and it's never even close. It's not even a rivalry in that respect. Furthermore, Pete Carroll said that whatever goes on in his program and recruiting he's directly responsible which is why Norton called out Neuweasel directly. Whoever is spreading the lies, the buck stops at Slick Rick's desk. He's denying it, how good is his word?

The bottom line is if UCLA was telling Recruits that Norton was going to UCLA to coach D, now they know the truth. If UCLA is totally innocent of everything, the recruits still know the truth. The only people hurt in this are the people telling lies, and the recruits are probably the only people who know the truth.

If Norton is telling the truth, then the recruits who were told that he (Norton) was coming to UCLA will know it. Just as they will know if Neuheisel is lying now. And if Norton is telling the truth, why would he go to Neuheisel, if UCLA is the one (allegedly) telling the lies?

Hey why knock UCLA for going after recruits with tactics that USC would use if they were in the same boat and the recruits they want also so it's all fair game

Ken Norton Jr. probably made this up because he lost out on the recruitment of the #1 TE in the country to UCLA. Morrell Presley was being recruited by Kenny and had committed to SC. He switched and already enrolled at UCLA which probably stung his ego and upset Pete. Also, UCLA is going hard at Randall Carrol and Flournoy which are already SC commits and being recruited by Norton. Flournoy is showing signs of wavering in his commitment and is taking an official visit to UCLA this month. He has no proof and nothing of substance. They were both asked what recruits said what and if they had anything and neither wanted to answer. Ken Norton is way out of line on this one and probably should have kept this mouth shut. If he had kept his mouth shut instead of following petes orders to take it to the media he'd probably be getting announced as the next DC at his alma matter. Instead it looks like he has los all respect from his Bruin Family.
