06:25 AM ET 12.30 | So, are the Clippers going to leave Baron Davis in Northern California and pick up Corey Maggette and Jamal Crawford at Golden State on the way home from Sacramento? Uh, not quite. Warriors swingman Stephen Jackson spent some quality time with Davis, his buddy and former teammate, over the weekend in Los Angeles, bonding and talking about old times. Jackson said that Davis wants to return to the Warriors. "That's all we talked about. . . . He wants to come back. And if he wants to come back, I want him back," Jackson told the Contra Costa Times. Davis denied that he is ready to bail off the listing 8-21 Clippers ship. "No, I don't want out," he told The Times on Monday at practice. "I don't know what Stephen Jackson got from my conversation. That never came out of my mouth. "I'm here. I'm here doing the same thing I did at Golden State. The first year I got to Golden State it was rough. It was a tough season. We were figuring each other out, figuring out the system. That transition year is always a tough year."

Who would wanna play for the Clips? He's still a bit salty for Brand leavin.

December 30, 2008  08:13 AM ET

Your kidding me he doesn't want to play for the Clippers.

December 30, 2008  08:25 AM ET

Baron thought he will be playing alongside Brand. He really wants to win. But what he never anticipated is Brand signing up with the sixers. As much as he is a favorite player of mine, im afraid he is destined to never get into the big stage of the NBA finals. Not to demean the qualities of the other Clippers (hey, pros are suppose to be good players!), But baron Davis is an exceptional player that just never had the luck of playing alongside equally great players.

OK he is not happy with the Clippers, but is going back to the Warriors something he should want?

It wasn't Davis' choice to leave Golden State. The Warriors decided they didn't want to resign or extend his contract. I doubt anything has changed, and there isn't much chance of his return. Davis wants to win--so it's easy to see why he would not be happy with the current state of the Clippers, but hey--it's the Clippers. What could he expect?

Yea, Baron screwed over his team mates in GS and then goes to LA and right off the bat Elton Brand screws him. I guess the karma kicked him in the arse right off the bat. I hope they make him finish his contract there like the Knicks have done with Dumpberry.

Never should have left golden state!

December 30, 2008  09:34 AM ET

if there is truth to this rumor, is anybody really surprised? it's baron. a notorious me first basketball player.

BD was after the money. I doubt he really thought about playing with Brand or Magette at all although that would have been a bonus. Unfortunately, those guys did the same thing and looked out for themselves first. BD is definitely not a team guy. He's kind of like Marbury without the ridiculous sense of greatness.

You summed up this situation perfectly. BD would have liked to have played with Brand but that really wasnt a big deal in his signing there. It was the money so if he has to suffer for the rest of his career, its his own fault.

you posters are idiots the baron wanted an extension and the warriors - scrub nelson said no so he opted out of his contract ( 1 year left worth about 16-17 million) and signed with his home city in LA

the warriors have only one decent bigman and a crap load of 2 and 3s
the clippers have no shooting guard (and 3 bigmen camby-kaman-randolph)

a possible trade could be camby for j.crawford or s.jackson reunited with the baron

That attitude, as you can see in NY, isn't advantageous to anyone!!!

So if it was not for the money, why did he opt out of his contract to play for the loser, dysfunctional Clippers? He could have finished his Warrior contract and played next year with a winning team for less money. It's almost always about the money for these guys.

December 30, 2008  11:15 AM ET

Stop the madness. baron isn't worthy of any of this praise. Look at his 'me first' stats! Shooting under 40% from the field and 30% from 3 point line. That's not a guy looking to help his team. Warriors should be glad they didn't resign him as he wasn't worth that kind of money and we don't want him back. He and Don Nelson can ride off into the sunset together.

LA RIVA ever heard of job security??? (long term option)

the baron is on 11.2 million this season, 12.1 million, 13.0 million, 13.9 million and 14.8 million in 2012-13

he was looking after his future and that fact he got to return to his HOME city was also a factor

it is not his fault the clippers have had injuries this year and crap-as clipper management went top heavy in the froncourt

CLIPPERS MANAGEMENT for god sakes trade camby for a decent SG and develop a bench (they will wait until kaman and randolph return from injury)

Clippers future line up

C. c.kaman
PF. z.randolph
SF. a.thornton
SG.??????????, j.crawford, s.jackson, ben.gordon
PG. b.davis

bench e.gordon (combo guard) and sign some decent role players who dont eat up the cap
??? someone good on the mid level exception

other teams have good players on the bench for cheap salary - suns spurs jazz
