One down, one to go. Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis underwent successful knee replacement surgery Monday on his right knee. Weis has months of rehabilitation ahead of him, including the prospect of surgery on his left knee, which was injured in Notre Dame's win over Michigan.

What Weis needs is a rehab/overhaul of his demeanor and attitude. But that's nearly impossible when it's a Jersey attitude you're talking about.

As much as I like to get a dig in on ND, I sincerely hope his rehab goes well. Knee injuries are not fun.

OTOH, let's hope he listens to his ortopedic surgeon more than he did to the doctor that did the gastric bypass (you know, the one he sued unsuccessfully?)

As much as I can't stand Charlie, I hope he has a speedy recovery and that Michigan humliates ND in 2009.

He really needs to rethink his philosophy on how he takes care of his body. If he doesn't, he'll be permanently disabled within 5 years.

Speedy recovery man! And nice bowl win, ND needed that desperately...

December 30, 2008  09:54 AM ET

I think he should stay in the press box.

It will be an interesting game to say the least and will probably dictate how each of their seasons will go...

yeah, the loser of that game might have a meltdown...one of these teams is not going to have the same coach in '10.
Looks like Charlie is not going to be able to go jogging for a little bit.

December 30, 2008  11:52 AM ET

Charlie will probably try to get back up on his feet right away and do further damage to his knees and try to sue the doctor for malpractice.

December 30, 2008  12:55 PM ET

that fat b______ needs to lose some weight or hes going to have to get his knees fixed again anyways

December 30, 2008  01:16 PM ET

Good thing our recruiting is pretty much over. The only guys left ND could get our Te'o, Gaffney and Moore, but there is nothing more we can do to get them. Hopefully he gets better, hires a good OC and O-line coach and can take advantage of the bowl win momentum and the easy schedule for next yea. This is the last year of having easy schedules.

December 30, 2008  06:28 PM ET

RR will be out at Mich by this time next year, while Weis will be looking at a 9-3 record.

December 31, 2008  12:30 AM ET

Why doesn't Charlie go visit Jamarkus McFarland or whatever his stupid name is and sit on his couch with his fat old mom and watch BIG MOMMA'S HOUSE and try to recruit that guy. I think him and his momma is a perfect fit for Notre Dame. Plus Charlie could rehab himself there with Mama while trying to convince her to let her son join the Irish for the next 5 weeks.

December 31, 2008  01:03 AM ET

This is a no story. Man T & R is desperate. Lose weight and the knee will heal itself next it will be your hip. When ND fires you for ruining their program, maybe Weight Watchers will hire you.

SC4Sc and Crappy Underpants, you guys are idiots. I can feel your pain through the robot and it just doesn't have the same hilarity.

ha ha ha exactly, what a tool!

Enjoying another person's physical troubles is juvenile, no matter how you feel about the person.
CW has a lot to prove in the next twelve months professionally, and he has a lot to do to rehab himself physically as well. It is going to be a very challenging year for him.
I'm not a big fan, but I wish him well with his rehab and it would be good to see the Irish field a team that looks like a D-I top twenty contender. I am tired of seeing them look like a High School team too often.
