Kansas State quarterback Josh Freeman is expected to announce that he's skipping his senior season to enter the NFL draft. A person with knowledge of Freeman's decision told The Associated Press, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly, on Thursday the school planned to make a formal announcement Friday. Freeman, a 6-foot-6 junior, broke most of Kansas State's career passing records.

I guess he's not into Bill Snyder's return.....

Never heard of him. I only very casually follow college sports though. Regardless, it sound like a mistake on his part unless he wants to go in the 3rd+ rounds.

i dont know about this decision. ive watched freeman since he's been at KU, he has the size to be a nfl QB, but i dont know if he'll be all that succesful. i wish him the best though, he is a big 12 player so i'm pulling for him, probably a 4th round pick in my opinion.

BOOMER SOONER!

someone let him know, passing records in college =/= longevity in the nfl

you guys evidently dont follow the draft watch and stock of players much. he'll go in the top two rounds in this weak qb class. If neither bradford or stafford come out, and i only think one of them will, freeman will likely go first round.

If Freeman is drafted first round, I will lose all respect for the NFL.

He'll make a fine tight end.

Joe Ganz(Neb) should be drafted in the First Round, he is 100 times better then Freeman.

January 2, 2009  11:08 AM ET

Can you say BUST! His accuracy and composure are not nearly ready for the NFL. They will eat him alive. He probably won't even get drafted until the 6th or even 7th round if he's lucky.

You don't know anything about the NFL draft. Nothing!

its clear u know nothing about the nfl draft nor football in general

I'd say this is a good decision. Bill Snyder runs the ball more heavily, and his offense probably won't do much for Freeman's draft status.

Josh Freeman is considered to be a player that will transition very well to the pro game. With his size and arm strength, a team with questions at the QB position should be more than happy to have him.

He is not Tim Tebow. Tebow will be drafted ahead of Freeman as a Tight End.

January 2, 2009  01:14 PM ET

Freeman throws better than Teblow.

Snyder will run a zone-read spread option, which this kid is made to run. He throws well, has enough mobility to be dangerous deep and is hard to bring down with his size. He should stay in school and help return KSU (not KU) to prominence.

They said the same things about Andre Woodson from Kentucky.

Neither will ever start for very long in the NFL. The just don't release the ball well enough.

Who the hell is JOE GANZ?! (Please don't answer. It's a rhetorical question.)

I see you wrote its a rhetorical question, but on another subject about Joe Ganz. I would consider him one of the most under rated QB's in college football. This what he did in just 16 games. comp/att 381/585, pasing pct. 65.1, passing yards 5125, passing TD 44, Int 18, QB rating 157.4 and 341 rushing yards with 8 TD.

January 2, 2009  06:03 PM ET

I thought he tried to go pro last year...............and the year before that.

January 2, 2009  06:17 PM ET

He is better than K-State's record would indicate. After Jordy Nelson left last year he was pretty much the entire offense for KSU. Toss is the weak KSU o-line and he is pretty impressive.
