Angels still interested in Manny?

07:28 AM ET 01.03 | While the Angels have suggested publicly that they won't be bidding for Manny Ramirez, some baseball people aren't writing them off. There also appears to be one or two other American League teams on the periphery of the bidding. The Yankees, after signing Mark Teixeira to an eight-year, $180-million contract, are not among them.

Until Manny signs every team is thinking about what if?

January 3, 2009  07:39 AM ET

Except Boston!!!

Said it before, I'll say it again...

Whenever FN ends a headline with a question mark, the answer is "no".

Just more Google bait for "Manny" and "Angels".

January 3, 2009  08:31 AM ET

thats the whole problem, its the what Manny are you going to get. He will give any team great production but nothing like he did for the Dodgers, he just has no reason to be that motivated. And giving him a no trade clause really ties teams hands.

yeah they do that alot as well as saying a team may be interested in him, with nothing in the story to back it up. Great journalism there.

They're 'out' just like the Yanks said the day before that
they never offered Tex a contract....
- it's Business- if the #'s match - it'll happen

that being said- the Angels don't really need another OF'er

As a man going through a divorce, I thought all women were cold no matter the time of year! OK, sorry that was uncalled for

As for the topic of the thread, I just can't see Manny and Scoscia getting along. Mike seems to run a pretty tight ship with an emphasis on fundamentals, which is the antithesis of everything Manny stands for.

I just think no matter who signs him they will get more of they typical Manny, 300 avg, 35 hrs and 100+ rbi's, not the Manny who tore up the leauge last year. He will help any team on offence but I'm just not with the majority who see's him as being a saviour of a team and that his presance will make any team a contender.

Whew! I thought I killed his thread. I agree that Manny will put up numbers similar to what he produced in Boston. He also tended to go on a tear for a couple of weeks or a month followed by a pedestrian run of so so hitting. Rinse and repeat.
I personally would like to see him on the Yankees. They deserve this scummah.
