Broncos reach out to Stoops
The Broncos moved quickly on New Year's Day, locking up interviews with three NFL assistants as well as making a preliminary move to contact University of Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops. For his part, Stoops, who visited Broncos training camp during the summer with his coaching staff, is a known quantity to Bowlen. But his contract at the football powerhouse averages about $3 million a year, and he will earn $6 million this year because of a $3 million bonus for staying at the school 10 seasons that kicked in on New Year's Day. Bowlen is an Oklahoma graduate and he did spend some time with Stoops during the visit in August. The Broncos had not had any direct contact with Stoops as of Thursday, but they were making overtures to his representatives. It is unlikely Stoops, who also was considered for the Redskins job last year, would consider an interview before his team faces Florida at Dolphin Stadium.

You need to stay Bob. You are coaching young men that play for the love of the game. You would be going to men just playing for the love of money.

Stop, your making laugh so hard I am crying here. If that is what it is all about then as J. Blake what that got him. After 12 wins in three years there the school dropped him.
Big time College Football IS a business. And it is all about the MONEY. Money for the school and a bunch of players who dream of getting big money in the Pros....Not a bad thing, but it is a fact.

I think he's a college coach and nothing more, but we have seen it before. Bring enough money and stroke their ego just enough and they take the jump. I don't see him succeding at the NFL level though and it's for the same reason why other college coaches fail: they can't have total control like they are accustomed to.

You are right, somewhat. What is the percentage of football players that ever, ever make the NFL. It is very small. So I think the vast majority know they will NEVER make a living playing after collage. So they ARE playing for the love of the game. Yes football pays the bill for almost all of the collage sports programs. As a tax payer I'm glad they do. Being a coach is a job and if you don't win your not doing your job to teach the players how to win. Jay Blake came in during NCAA sanctions and a bad coaching staff before him. Stoops won with Jays recruits right off the bat. Maybe Jay was one year away or maybe he was a bad coach we will never know.

Dead on Hova. Stoops would fail miserably in the pros. It's not a personal attack. Some coaches were made for the college game, some for the pros - IMO. I think Stoops is a great college coach, he should stay right where he is. Why would you want to leave a gig like that anyway?

A guy does not play for Oklahoma without major pro aspirations. If it was all about education and doing the right thing, all those guys on the team from Texas would go to school closer their homes a be role models to the kids in their local communities. Right now if you told all the players at Oklahoma they could stay and play football and get their education but the NFL had a ban on Sooner players, how many do you honestly think would stay?

Carroll know a good job when he has it. He would be a fool to leave USC.
Stoops could be a good pro coach or he could stay at OU. He is paid bank at OU. Saban can have a contract that says that he is the highest paid coach, but really, REALLY?
Money or fame. Stay and be a legend. Leave and continue what you have done all of your life. Challenge yourself.
I, for one, wish you well in either endeavor.
Please be ready for this game.

Whats your point? No one said anything about a ban on Sooner players or any teams players for that matter.
