Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops said Saturday afternoon that he is not a candidate for the Denver Broncos' head coaching job. A report out of Colorado earlier in the week indicated Broncos owner Pat Bowlen was interested in reaching out to Stoops. "That's a rumor I haven't heard, and no one's contacted me about that, so I don't know anything about it," Stoops said after the Sooners' second practice for Thursday's national title game against Florida.

FOCUS! That's the ticket (of course great defense and offense are importnat as well).

Why would any college coach want to go to the pros. It has been a proven disaster.

Obviously they have contacted him, but he doesn't want it to be a distraction. I would be more than surprised if Stoops ever left OU.

Agreed; with the exceptions of Jimmy Johnson and Dick Vermeil most college coaches making the jump to the NFL haven't succeeded.

Stoops would not do well in the NFL IMO ..... as we've seen, when the talent level is similar the Sooners aren't very good. Stoops is a great recruiter but a very average coach.

OKLAHOMA where's the poop talkin? kinda quiet out there in Sooner land. BTW Texas wins big tonight. I'm thinking 38-10. I can't wait until Thursday night. Florida's secondary is better than they're given credit for so it should be interesting against Bradford. Go Gators!

This. I seriously doubt he leaves. Doesnt need the money. And his ego wont make him do it.
