DB recruit picks West Virginia over Miami & Florida
A Blanche Ely defensive back declared his college intentions on national television for the second consecutive year. Michael Carter orally committed to West Virginia on Saturday during NBC's live broadcast of the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio. Last year, former teammate Patrick (Johnson) Peterson committed to LSU on national television. ''I will head to West Virginia,'' said Carter, who became the third Broward County prospect to commit to the Mountaineers, joining Eugene Smith (Miramar) and Stedman Bailey (Miramar). Miami Northwestern running back Daquan Hargrett has also committed to the Mountaineers. Carter, a 5-11, 160-pound defensive back, said he chose West Virginia over Miami, Florida, Minnesota and Georgia. Carter had two interceptions for an Ely defense that averaged 72 passing yards allowed per game this season.

Hellz yeah!!!! Stewart hired Doc Holliday to recruit the deep south, and that's what we are getting. It's shaping up to be the best WVU recruiting class of maybe all time. Let's GOOOO Mountaineers!!

I wonder if RR regrets leaving. The chief put a spell on him. Failure at Michigan!

This is great for WVU football, but these young kids from South Florida are in for a real shocker in Jan and Feb when they feel how cold it gets in Morgantown.

He knows it'll be cold - but he probably wanted to go some place he could play some time in the next two years... and we're pretty stocked right now.

This is a nice score for us. Though I think this kid sees that he may get some PT from the start and that may have affected his decision. Either way glad to have him. We needed some position players in the defensive backfield not just converted athletes.

The shots couldn't be directed at a nicer coach and more upstanding program.

Looks like he is going to be in for an even bigger shock now that he changed his commitment from WVU to Minnesota.

Minnesota can have him....listed at 5'11" he's closer to 5'9" and 155lbs. WVU will be just fine without him
