08:13 AM ET 01.04 | We hear the Heat and the Kings had conversations this season about Sacramento center Brad Miller, who is being paid $11.3 million this season and $12.2 million next season. The Kings like Shawn Marion but would need to give the Heat another player for salary-cap reasons in such a scenario. But Miami prefers to wait closer to the Feb. 19 trade deadline before deciding what to do with Marion.

surely marion is worth more than miller!!!!
is he not a potential allstar figure?!
i understand miami need a big man, but im sure they can get better than miller! i thought boozer was a possibility? or even trade marion for lamar odom. ay least he is a free agent in the summer, so if it does not work they can go in a different direction in the summer. And LA get a more reliable 3/4 man to cover kobe and gasol!

JHova is right. The deal is good on paper, but Marion doesn't fit in with Sacramento's youth movement. Miller would fill the Heat's needs for a big man nicely though.
A third team would solve the issue. For example, after doing this trade, Sacramento can trade Marion to either the Lakers or Hornets for one of their younger players.

the answer is NO
Marion was a GREAT player-
he is simply NOT anymore at the same level.

But the real point is the term you used 'WORTH'
- not better/worse...WORTH

A true solid CENTER is worth MORE than a good PF
PLUS the heat have beasley- who can step into marions role

This is a NO-BRAINER for the heat

Riley cannot afford to wait.
How many free agents did we lose out on a season and a half ago?
Bibby, Rashard Lewis, Iverson!
Need i say more Riley Wade County needs a real center, Magloire is a former shell of himself, Blount is a cheap cigar and Joel Anthony is coming into his own but we still need a real center.
Get it done asap!

The heats new starting lineup: Supermario, Wade, Beasley, Haslem & Brad Miller

January 4, 2009  11:00 AM ET

This deal should work for the Heat. I can't see any benefit for the Kings however. It appears that Riley will sleep past another opportunity. Someone tell me what is the advantage of waiting to decide what to do about Marion. If he doesn't know now, what's going to happen to make up his mind in 6 weeks?

January 4, 2009  11:39 AM ET

Marion for Miller and Douby as the Kings are trying to get rid of Douby, but they will want to keep Salmons cause that dude can drop 20 a night given the chance. If not Douby, then maybe Sheldon Williams. Either of them two paired with Miller for Marion.

Riley would do that trade in a minute. The Kings would be stupid to trade Salmons for Marion Scottish Baller has a more reasonable trade that would work for both sides but still there is the problem of Marion staying with the team. Kings need to wait for someone who is a long term solution instead of Marion who will bail at the end of the season.

Beasley is a PF, it isnt marion that is in ihis way: its haslem

something no true heat fan wants to admit due to sentimntal value

marion only looked great because he played next to nash , where he got most his points from fast breaks and because of the system that d antoni used , there is no one in the league that uses such a system ( except for maybe nellie in golden state) so the heat should trade him quick before he asks for more money than he is worth or leaves

Hey, if I had Miller, I'd trade him for Halle Berry. But that's just me.

Hahahahahahahaha, Very Funny!

Brad Miller should come to Utah. Somehow trade Boozer, Collins, Almond or someone else for Brad Miller, Garcia, even Kevin Martin. I dunno just thinking as i type i mean i bet even Ronnie Price would welcome going back to Sacramento. The Jazz could benefit from Miller.

January 4, 2009  08:54 PM ET

Shawn Marion is multi-skilled, but it's tough to figure out what to do with him. Is he an undersized 4, or a big 3? Or maybe a natural 3 who really wants to be a 2?. The Heat would benefit from Miller's passing ability, spot-up shooting and court acumen. Marion's defense is probably his best asset, but he seems reluctant to get after it all the time. I'd take Miller straight up, no hesitation. At least you would know what to do with him.

January 4, 2009  09:51 PM ET

I'd do it only because Marion's the odd wheel on this team with 3 wheels. A good center is the wheel they need, and while Marion is a better player than Miller, he doesn't fit in as well.

WOW ALL OF YOU MIAMI FANS ARE DESPERATE EH?! MARION FOR BRAD MILLER? MARION IS WORTH SO MUCH MORE. MIAMI WOULD BE STUPID TO MAKE THAT DEAL. THEY CAN DEFINITELY GET SOMEONE BETTER THAN BRAD MILLER FOR THE MATRIX. BRAD MILLER IS GETTING OLD, HE'S INJURY PRONE, AND HE PLAYS NO DEFENSE. MARION IS 5 INCHES SHORTER THAN BRAD MILLER YET MARION GETS MORE REBOUNDS PER GAME! MARION ALSO GIVES YOU ALMOST 2 STEALS PER GAME AND 1 BLOCK PER GAME. BRAD MILLER IS DOODOO!

this trade will be good for the heat but i don't why the kings are even getting themselves in this kind of negotiation.... marion is already not as productive as he was in phoenix. more importantly, he won't be a good role players for the young kings. this team is in rebuilding mode... they should try to get someone that can make the team better.

and marion is not also a great crowd drawer, in case the maloofs are trying to earn money by attracting fans so they can charge them parking fees. if they want a crowd-drawer then they should sign marbury.... well, i'm not really sure about this but they signed artest before so who knows.
