Why Manny's still on market

Manny Ramirez and his agent, Scott Boras, are considering an offer of three years and an option from the Giants. That puts the pressure on San Francisco's NL West rivals, the Dodgers, to counter or lose him. Teams we thought might get into the Ramirez hunt - the Mets, Nationals, Phillies, Angels, and Orioles - have gone in a different direction or decided Ramirez isn't worth the money at age 36. "If Scott Boras came down on his outrageous demands, there'd be more of a market," said an American League general manager. "Everyone recognizes Manny's hitting ability, but everyone knows what happened in Boston, too."

Toughest out in baseball when the game is on the line, without question. Defensive liability. The ever present possibility that Manny will be Manny, and sometimes not the lovable one. Tough call, at $25 per for 3 years, a real leap of faith.

As of yesterday the Giants are saying they haven't made Manny any kind of offer and that the reports that they did were "over blown". To sign Manny they would need to get rid of someone and what they have for outfielders isn't generating any interest. He'll probably get 3 from someone but thats still a let down for hom as he was looking for 5 to 6 years.

The boy has this messed-up attitude like so many others from his kind in the sports worlds. He acts like a 12-year old and then when he wants to he will kiss the proper persons' to get what he wants and then turn on them like some sort of gang idiot who thinjks they are in the right and are just acting out after being forced by society into that stupid;y chosen role. All I can say is....Get Over It. Nobody owes nobody anything in this life.

"If Scott Boras came down on his outrageous demands, there'd be more of a market,"

So...if Borass and Manny weren't greedy P.O.S. Manny would have a contract?

I think Manny would have been better off with a different agent. The only offer right now that anyones heard of is the Dodger offer that they pulled. The Dodgers got fed up because after Boras turned down their offer he never got back with a counter. Everyones expecting the Yankees to wait until the end and just grab him like they did Teixeira but that was a different situation, the Red Sox have no interest in Manny. When the Yankees really want someone like they did CC and AJ they put huge offers out right away to scare everyone else off. That hasn't happened and their outfield is full up and they need to leave the dh slot open in case Posada can't play everyday.

he's a gun for hire. if youve got a chance to make the playoffs you hire him for a year and then send him on his way when its over.

It would definitely be suh-WHEEET if Manny's new deal is less than he and Boras wanted as a direct result of his behavior in Boston AND Boras & Manny's greed. I hate to see him get a big payoff as a reward for that.

Morning Cat, and I think your sweetness is in the works. No way Manny gets anything better than two years with a team option on a third for more than 20 million per. He'll probably be forced to accept an ayhole clause in the contract, too.

Does anyone NOT know why .......lol
how about some new headlines?

I doubt very much that the Giants have offered him anything like $25 per year for 3 years, with an option for a fourth, in fact I doubt they have made an offer at all. I think teams are sick of being used by Bora$$. What is the point of making an offer to one of his clients when it is merely going to serve as a ploy to drive up the price? Teams have got to start thinking about the effect of paying silly money for free agents on their current players. For instance - What happens with the Yankees is Wang comes back strong and out pitches C.C.? Pettitte sure isn't going to take $10 million when they team just blew $82 million on a punk like Burnett. The Red Sox are already dealing with the effects of offering Teixeira $170 million, good luck signing Youklis for less if he has another good season.

Same here. This guy turded up last year, and I actually appreciate the fact that Boston ate his contract and passed him off rather than let him stink up their clubhouse more.

If Manny goes somewhere such as San Fran, it will be interesting to see what happens if the team starts off 10-22.

Morning peeps...
I feel like singing:))

Saturday night I was downtown
Working for the FBI
Sitting in a nest of bad men
Whiskey bottles piling high

Bootlegging boozer on the west side
Full of people who are doing wrong
Just about to call up the DA man
When I heard this woman singing a song

A pair of 45's made me open my eyes
My temperature started to rise
She was a long cool woman in a black dress
Just a 5-9 beautiful tall
With just one look I was a bad mess
'Cause that long cool woman had it all

I saw her heading to the table
Well a tall walking big black cat
When Charlie said I hope that you're able, boy
Well I'm telling you she knows where it's at
Well then suddenly we heard the sirens
And everybody started to run
Jumping under doors and tables
Well I heard somebody shooting a gun

Well the DA was pumping my left hand
And she was holding my right
Well I told her, "Don't get scared
'Cause you're gonna be spared"
Well I'm gonna be forgiven
If I wanna spend my living
With a long cool woman in a black dress
Just a 5-9 beautiful tall
With just one look I was a bad mess
'Cause that long cool woman had it all
Had it all, had it all, had it all...

Remember when the season ended and Manny wa supposed the be THE premaire free agent out there, now he's had to wait for Sabthia, Burnett & Teixeira all to sign before him. I don't remember any year when a player signes for more money then the players who have signed ahead of him.

That's fantastic!!!
Manny had it made in Boston...he went too far.

Manny is STILL on the market because Manny likes "being Manny" and Boras likes "being Boras". 'Nuff said.

As with any auction, no one really knows what the other bidders will do. But unlike most auctions, this "item" has a mind and a will of its own and can choose to decline the apparent high bid if they think their interests will be better served elsewhere. I still think the Yankees will sign him -- probably for $25 million @ 2years and a club option third. I think he'd rather play in pinstripes than anywhere else as long as they come close with the money.

I'm glad that baseball owners and GMs are actually starting to come out and say that they are sick of dealing with Scott Boras and his ridiculous demands. Maybe they are all starting to realize that they are over paying for ALL of his clients.
